About
After over 20 years in private practice (see www.JeanPollock.com ) I work with individuals and couples using a fairly integrative approach. Relationship issues, depression, anxiety, addictions, eating disorders, childhood histories, and physical illness are of particular interest to me. More important than the particular issue, however, is my belief that times of stress in our lives -and even times that might seem particularly hopeless- can serve as opportunities for increased understanding and growth. Psychotherapy with a "seasoned" clinician can be a fascinating and effective tool to facilitate that transformation and growth.
Psychotherapy is most helpful if not diminished in its role to being a mere "symptom-reducer". You and I will work together, addressing the underlying cause of what's troubling you, in order that there be a far greater possibility of you not returning to this same painful place again.
Psychotherapy works very well in conjunction with other modes of care, including many "alternative" medicine modalities. (I address this on my website, jeanpollock.com.) Finally, I hear from clients comments such as "You're really attentive" and "It feels safe because you won't let me get away with stuff."
