I think of therapy as a compassionate collaboration. Clients and I form a partnership in which we work together to not only change behavior, but to understand why we continue to make the same mistakes. We also develop a "roadmap" to avoid future problems by learning to spot "red flags" that may trigger old behaviors. Learning new coping skills and strengthening old ones are an intregal part of this process.
I have had many years' experience working with troubled adolescents and their families, using a combination of individual and family therapy. Couples are seen both individually and together to expedite the process of repairing the relationship. I specialize in insight-oriented therapy to understand how past events affect current behavior.
