I use a cognitive approach to therapy. This means that together we explore different ways of thinking through problems (reframing). My specialties are anxiety (social anxiety) & panic, depression, alcohol use, and career problems. Career problems include stress, and compassion fatigue (first responders, police, military, veterinarian, attorneys, etc). I work with adults who are often adjusting to changes in life. For example, occupational changes (layoff or promotion), couple situations (infidelity, marriage, divorce), life transitions (new baby, empty nester, menopause, illness), and longer-term mental illnesses.
I approach therapy from a Cognitive perspective. I will help you identify the thoughts that are troubling to you. We will explore the beliefs you hold and even understand how your belief systems developed. We will collaboratively work to reframe these thoughts and beliefs so that they make sense.
I'm caring and hospitable and my office is cozy and welcoming. I use a structured approach to my sessions so you will likely know what to expect. I work to help my clients become motivated to help themselves versus me giving clients directions.
