If you're feeling troubled – whether in the long term or in a crisis – you may need outside help. Psychodynamic therapy (PDT) may offer the help you need. In PDT as I practice it, I engage interactively with my patients to help them understand what troubles them in the larger context of who they are as individuals. As a patient you can share your thoughts and feelings with me in complete confidence, without holding anything back. I do my best to enter into your experience from your point of view, bearing in mind that the sources of what troubles us can lie beneath the surface, outside of our consciousness or hidden in the past.
I listen as closely as I can – with empathy and without judgment. I have used PDT to treat anxiety, both generalized and situational; depression; difficulties with intimate, social or family relationships; dissatisfaction at work; feeling unfulfilled in life. PDT is also well suited to dealing with issues of self-regard, self-confidence and self-esteem.
I am especially interested in helping people deal as individuals with the complications of gender identification and sexual orientation. Whatever troubles you, we may be able to use PDT creatively to relieve your symptoms in the short term and – by addressing their basic causes – prevent them from recurring.
