My name is Jason Stringer I am a marriage and family therapist licensed in the state of California. My approach to therapy is that I am curious about your experience, I aim to understand as much as I can about your experience. I do make assumptions that through exploration and feedback, we begin to paint a picture of reality that is easier to navigate. My goal is to help you reach your potential, to navigate through hard parts of the journey, and enjoy the good parts of the journey together. I have a significant history of working with people suffering from addiction issues, depression, anxiety, and relationship issues.
My main theoretical orientations that I use are Person-Centered Therapy, and Acceptance and commitment therapy. In Person-Centered therapy, I take the approach that if I provide empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity it will help you to understand yourself and your emotional states.
I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) as a means to understand that we often do things that limit our ability to reach our potential, we often avoid too much, or we get too stuck on things in life that make us suffer. ACT helps us to become more flexible with how we navigate the world.
