My name is Jason McLaughlin, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in late adolescence, college-aged issues, & early adulthood. DSM-defined focus areas include Anxiety, High-Functioning Autism Spectrum Disorders, ADHD, and Depression. I also excel in dealing with issues of anger. For nine years, I occupied two positions at Lifeworks Academy in Doylestown, including over five years spent as a School Counselor covering a wide range of special education classrooms. Within private practice I have a renewed focus on ADHD, Anxiety, and Stigma, with an emphasis on problem-solving and interpersonal growth.
I believe that the client-counselor relationship is paramount to therapeutic progress. In this vein, it is important for any client to feel connected, understood, and selflessly addressed. Unconditional positive regard is a must. Self-disclosure and story-telling are prevalent throughout my brand of counseling, as rapport remains central to the process.
Theoretically, my approach is most aligned with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. That said, Psychology is my passion; meaning that I naturally draw from a wide range of theories and employ a variety of research based practices.
