I became a therapist because of my experience in therapy. I understand firsthand the vulnerability, courage, and even desperation it can take to begin therapy. My experience as a client was healing because my therapist didn't see me as a collection of symptoms to “fix” but as a person in pain, who, despite my sincere effort, was coping unhealthily.
