It requires courage and commitment to engage in psychotherapy because it is not a treatment process with a quick resolution. I recognize that telling me important personal information about your experience - perhaps experience about which you will communicate for the first time - may feel very uncomfortable. Psychotherapy will only work if I can help you feel safe enough to talk about what matters so that together we can identify what is getting in the way of you making progress toward your life objectives.
I will encourage you to use your sessions to talk about thoughts, feelings and behavior in relation to yourself/body, others, work and leisure. But I will never expect you to say anything unless and until you feel ready. Psychotherapy does not work if you are pressured to talk.
I have served on the adjunct faculty of NYU School of Social Work; participated in a training project with Hunter and Fordham Schools of Social Work & National Center for Social Work Trauma Education and Workforce Development; have additional training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy and psychoanalytic treatment of addictions; am an accredited supervisor.
