Hi! I'm Janet Wilson, a licensed clinical social worker. I have worked as a social worker for over 20 years, working in various settings: hospitals, schools, foster agencies, adoption agencies, and community-based programs. I like to provide non-judgmental, engaging, and warm space, and I primarily utilize strength-based and CBT approaches to therapy. I primarily utilize cognitive behavioral therapy, in which we examine and challenge thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors and shift them to healthier habits and behaviors.
I also take the systems approach, in looking at the systems of relationships one is involved in, and how those interactions can be modified to strengthen oneself. I integrate a strengths-based framework, in which we focus on personal strengths. I also focus on mindfulness breathing exercises and grounding tools.
I work primarily with adults, with a specialty in working with clients experiencing infertility, exploring alternative ways of growing a family, adjusting to parenting, postpartum, anxiety, and life/relationship/career changes. I provide a supportive, warm, and encouraging environment. I will gently challenge you, but I will not push you.
