Janet Sasson Edgette, PsyD, MPH, Psychologist in Exton
Teenagers are my specialty, especially those wanting nothing to do with counseling! (Download my article "Why Teens Hate Therapy" on website.) I help teens (children, too) who are anxious, angry, defiant, withdrawn, moody, self-destructive, inattentive, depressed, doing poorly in school, or having trouble with peers. I work as effectively with boys as with girls, and can help you decide whether the problems you're noticing are a part of "typical" teen behavior or a sign of something more serious. I also offer one session consultations for parents who have questions about their kids or new parenting approaches.
Style-wise I'm pretty straightforward, get things moving quickly, and work comfortably counseling both individuals and families. I don't pummel kids with dozens of questions, but get them genuinely engaged in conversations that are relevant and point toward solutions.
I've helped families for 30 years, and raised three children of my own. My books include Stop Negotiating with Your Teen: Strategies for Parenting Your Angry, Manipulative, Moody or Depressed Adolescent, & Adolescent Therapy That Works. Call me & we'll figure out if I'm right for you & your family!
