I specialize in trauma-informed therapy, which pulls from a variety of approaches, most often cognitive behavioral work. I help adolescents and adults navigate complex PTSD, childhood trauma, sexual abuse, religious trauma, and mood disorders in order to improve their everyday lived experience. I utilize an integrative and trauma-informed approach to help you overcome symptoms and achieve your goals. Together, we'll build a strong base of coping skills—relaxation, movement, and creativity—so you can comfortably process what you need to in session and manage symptoms between sessions.
The first session will be different from a traditional therapy session in that there are more questions and goal-setting going on. This is a session for both of us to clearly understand what brought you into therapy, what you hope to get out of it, and whether we are a good fit to help you achieve those goals.
I am known to be compassionately direct in sessions. I am on your team, however I am not going to be a passive "yes" person, I will challenge things when needed. This approach combined with breaking down goals to small, achievable steps encourages individuals.
