Children are often unable to effectively understand & process confusion, fear, & anger. As life brings challenges, transitions, trauma, & even abuse, they can struggle to cope & negative social behavior occurs. Together, we find positive ways to communicate & release intense feelings. This enhances a child's confidence & frees up emotional energy to build healthy relationships with caregivers & peers.
Play therapy allows a therapist & child to make sense to one another when words are inadequate. A multi-faceted approach naturally builds an intuitive & attentive relationship. Parent/caregiver or co-parenting issues are addressed, without the child present, at the opening of a session. Over time, with parents' involvement, stronger family dynamics form.
