I believe in being authentic and warm and normalizing people’s experiences. I also use a mindfulness-based approach to facilitate more self-awareness and conscious choices. Therapy should always be a place to feel supported and to be yourself, and to explore why and who you are, and feel safe enough to try to change.
As a gay man, I work well with the LGBT population. I understand being different than the dominant culture, and therefore I also work well with anyone who has felt marginalized due to sexual orientation or race, or gender identity, or other ways one may feel unaligned. My goal is to help one find their unique life blueprint. Why are you here?
I believe accurate empathy in understanding someone is very important. I also believe listening deeply and hearing what lies beneath the words is very important. I can also be direct with my feedback, but always in a way that feels supportive. Feeling heard and understood deeply is primary for me as a therapist working with clients.
