None of us are perfect, but we can increase the joy and meaning in our lives when we have a kind objective voice to help identify weaknesses and strengths that we might overlook. I also help train you in skills to figure what is happening, what you want to happen, and how you can manage your emotions, thoughts, and behavior so you can reach your goals. How to choose a therapist? Research suggests to look for someone who is both knowledgeable and a good fit. That is why I offer a free initial consultation so we can be sure. My therapy and research specialties are depression, anxiety, chronic pain, parenting, and relationships.
This is what I have to offer: 1) more training than most, beginning with two PhD’s in psychology (research and clinical), 2) decades of successfully treating a wide range of individuals, 3) wisdom that comes from training other therapists , 4) being up to date with the latest findings as a professor who is also an active researcher and teacher.
I work from empirically proven perspectives to meet your needs. I am happy to do a free 30-minute phone, zoom, or in-person initial consultation. My office is 10-15 minutes from the East Falls Church Metro stop and there is plenty of parking if you drive. Email is preferred and if you are one of my past students, email me to catch up!
