Therapy has been shown to both change your experiences and change the structure of your brain for the better in a lasting way. In +20 years of doing research and therapy I have found that insight is not enough. So in a supportive environment we will use skills to help us figure what is happening, what you really want, and how you can manage your emotions, thoughts, and behavior to succeed. You pick the goal, I help you get there. My experience helps, but a good fit is key so please do the free initial consultation. My therapy and research specialties are relationships, work issues, depression, anxiety, chronic pain, and parenting.
This is what I have to offer: 1) more training than most, beginning with two PhD’s in psychology (research and clinical), 2) decades of successfully treating a wide range of individuals, 3) wisdom that comes from training other therapists , 4) being up to date with the latest findings as a professor who is also an active researcher and teacher.
I work from empirically based perspectives to meet your needs. I am happy to do a free 30-minute phone, zoom, or in-person initial consultation. My office is 10-15 minutes from the East Falls Church Metro stop and there is plenty of free parking if you drive. Email is preferred and if you are one of my past students, email me to catch up!
