The relationship between a psychologist and a client is unique. It provides a context for the client to express a range of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, a chance to clarify the struggles within and outside them, and the opportunity to work with another person who encourages movement toward your goals with an understanding of the ways we get "off course" sometimes. Clients willing to learn, work toward flexibility of thought and are consciously motivated to change themselves have more success with me. I am also intensely interested in working with those reluctant to try psychological interventions.
With a rich tapestry of experience as a licensed psychologist, professional mediator, arbitrator, and former educator, I offer a dynamic understanding of conflicts - between others and within ourselves - that bridges the gaps between discouragement and hope, criticism and compassion, and blame and accountability; to develop practical insights toward change.
Those reluctant to seek therapy often benefit from meeting with me, and "one size fits all" is not true when deciding on a therapist. Trust, safety, and respect are essential in all relationships, but sometimes, working with someone who challenges our thinking and engages us directly can offer the most significant opportunity for change.
