Healing begins with connection and acceptance. The things that happen to us may shape us, but they do not define who we are. My goal is to help you understand how your big and small traumas have impacted your choices to this point, and how to move forward into a healthier life. Many clients seek me out because they have experienced significant trauma that is impacting their daily lives. Others are experiencing anxiety, grief, spiritual issues, chronic illness, or life transitions. For couples and families, I seek to help them identify and alter the patterns in their relationships that are hindering connection and healing.

“The rough must always accompany the smooth. Without one or the other one learns nothing about oneself.” It can be difficult to navigate out of rough times. Relationship problems, depression, anxiety, work stress, or family issues can impact our lives in ways we could not imagine. It can feel overwhelming and as if there is not a way out. My hope is that we can work together through the healing process and start the voyage toward a better you.

Growing up in the era of social media is quite exhilarating. Memes, photos, and funny videos are just a few clicks away, but they also fuel unrealistic beauty standards and a comparison mindset. If you're here, you may feel unworthy, anxious, or defeated due to not feeling "good enough" to replicate what you see online. If this is you, I want you to know that the only healthy competition in life is between you against you. My name is Toni, and I'm therapist who loves working with people who feel overwhelmed by all the societal and intrapersonal pressures placed on our lives.

I specialize in work with the LGBTQIA+ community, those seeking secular (non-faith based) therapy and people facing interpersonal conflicts. That said, I put a high value on diversity and do not limit my practice to specific communities amongst the age 18+ population. I have also worked extensively with clients in rural Appalachia and Veterans. I work with clients experiencing a range of issues including interpersonal problems, sexuality conflict, stress, social anxiety, gender dysphoria, infidelity, divorce/breakups, transitional life events and women’s empowerment.

To reach out for help is pure courage but it is not without fear. You don’t have to figure it all out…just one action forward is enough right now. Helping people, healing lives, is my life mission and goal. I have dedicated the majority of my adult life to build the knowledge, skills, and abilities to serve and help others in need. Every single human being has purpose and worth; some need guidance, support, love, and care to reach that purpose. I strive to learn from each individual I have the honor to work with, implement that learning and instill hope, belief and self-worth. I am eager to understand you and how I can help!

Women and individuals who have experienced trauma often become my favorite clients due to their resilience and strength. Their unique perspectives, deep emotional intelligence, and willingness to confront challenges inspire me. Working with them allows for profound connections and meaningful growth. I admire their courage in facing adversity and their capacity for healing and transformation. Supporting them on their journey towards empowerment and self-discovery is both fulfilling and humbling.

Are the dynamics of a specific relationship affecting other areas of your life? Or is something personal affecting your important relationships? Because relationships are the building blocks of life, they have the power to affect your happiness & well-being. It seems that creating a balance of love & trust between people in relationships enhances the individuals' hopes for the future of the relationship overall. Couple relationships function best when give & take is balanced & when relational fairness is made a priority. Other family relationships are similar & should also be fair & balanced in how individuals give & take & relate with one another.

This can be a challenging time and space to be living in. There is so much more you can control in your life experience than what society leads you to believe. I'd be honored to offer you a place of support, a genuinely connected relationship, and my expertise (in nerdy stuff like neuroscience and the cognitive process) to help defeat whatever is standing between you & the life you deserve. My goal is to bring hope and solution to negative things my clients are experiencing through their own personal empowerment.

We all experience hard things. Bad things happen and we create ways to cope with that, some good and some not so good. Each person can grow and repair from simple issues to complex traumas and hurts. I utilize trauma-informed and attachment-based approaches like Brainspotting, Somatic Processing and Trust-Based Relational Intervention, to tackle the root cause of the problem, not just the symptom. I utilize a strengths-based approach with all clients and families and believe you should be able to have fun along the way to healing.

Having a safe place to help process your thoughts and emotions and to learn new skills is important for healing and growth. My passion is to empower people to find their voice, to recognize their needs and wants are important, and to collaborate with them towards the life they deserve.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Fort Worth?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
