About
I have been a practicing psychotherapist since 1982. I have worked in a variety of settings and am comfortable treating individuals, couples, and families. I especially enjoy working with older adolescents/young adults struggling with self-identity issues that can include co-occurring disorders. Strong background in treating substance use disorders. I also specialize in anger related issues with concomitant mood disorders.
I utilize cognitive-behavioral and systems approaches while incorporating transpersonal perspectives when applicable. I have a background in depth psychology.
I have specialized in rural mental health over the last 20 years, which has broadened my understanding of traditional Northern New Mexico lifestyles and increased my awareness of cross-cultural perspectives to health and healing. I have also previously lived on the Navajo Reservation where I heightened my understanding of indigenous practices.
