About
When we deny our feelings, pushing them away (depressing them), we get depressed. When we shame our needs and criticize ourselves for being weak/needy, we strengthen the fear that causes us to hide who we really are. This increases anxiety. When we deny traumatic memories, we develop Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Numbing reality and denying real injustices will protect us from pain in the short run. Denying what is real, however, flings us into an inner conflict in which we resist the things that we need the most, and cling to the things that make us most dysfunctional.
I want to invite you to my new website, www.talkingtheblues.com, where I will give you a better look at my counseling work. I have a weekly blog on my website on the page called "Lion's Den Blogs." That's where we will focus on the art of free association and what I call, "The Two-Step Dance of Inner Dialogue."
I have been a therapist for over 30 years. I have a passion for helping people heal and grow. I love Henri Nouwen's book title, "The Wounded Healer". Those who have walked their own healing path become the most effective healers. Feel free to give me a call.
