When I interview a prospective Texas LPC Associate, the goal is to ensure goodness of fit and establish a clear, collaborative foundation for supervision. I want to understand who you are as a developing clinician. We’ll discuss the populations you serve, your clinical setting, your theoretical orientation, and the types of cases you find most challenging. I’ll ask about areas where you feel confident and areas where you need more structure, support, or skill development—whether that’s case conceptualization, documentation, risk assessment, boundaries, or managing countertransference.
We’ll also explore your professional goals. What kind of clinician do you want to become? Where do you see yourself long term—agency work, private practice, specialized populations? What skills do you most want to strengthen during your associate years? Clarifying your vision helps us create intentional, goal-directed supervision.
Finally, we discuss expectations. Supervision is an active process that requires preparation, accountability, and ethical integrity. I look for associates who are motivated to grow, receptive to constructive feedback, and committed to developing sound clinical judgment. By the end of the conversation, we should both feel confident with supervision alignment.

My supervision approach is rooted in Bernard and Goodyear's Discrimination Model, which emphasizes flexibility, intentionality, and developmental growth. I move fluidly between three supervisory roles—teacher, counselor, and consultant—based on your needs as a clinician and the complexity of your cases. I am committed to developing ethical, self-aware, and competent clinicians.
