James has over 35 years of experience working with individuals during and after exceedingly difficult and often tragic situations as a police officer, elected Sheriff, business owner, and pastor. He has special insight into working with those who serve as ‘First Responders’ and Veterans. He understands the joys experienced in marriage and family, along with the difficulties that need healing. He is well-versed with those experiencing substance abuse problems and anyone who has experienced loss and grief. As a counselor, he has also worked extensively with individuals who experienced sexual, physical, and emotional abuse.
We live in a fallen world, bad things can happen, and we may experience pain and suffering. I am called to provide counseling that will help others experience God’s love, grace, forgiveness, and healing. I rely on Jesus, His Word, and faith to help in this process, and I also use practical means such as counseling skills which are supported by Scripture.
My prayer is that each person discovers the unconditional love of God and, with His help, can find hope and healing for any problem they may bring. My education is uniquely designed to prepare counselors for Christian service by emphasizing the integration of Christian theology and counseling theory to help clients navigate life's challenges.
