Hi! My name is Jaine Yu. I have a License Clinical Social Worker license in California. I see clients who like approaches that are mixed between some processing and some solution-focused, goal-oriented style. As a therapist, I like to get to know my clients before we start getting into intervention. Starting treatment with me, we might spend a session with intake, the second session talking about goals for treatment. In the meantime, I want to get to know you beyond the symptoms that you are struggling with.
Therapy is a collaborative effort. I want to help you with clinical expertise, but you are the expert in your life. Together we can figure out goals for treatment in a safe and supportive environment.
I usually talk about goal setting in the session after the initial intake. I see goal setting as a way for my clients to tell me what they need from me and from therapy. The goal-setting discussion usually helps me understand my clients better because it helps me understand what they want out of therapy and treatment.
