Change, transition, and facing the unknown can be incredibly overwhelming. I believe in sitting together with my clients in whatever they are experiencing and working collaboratively to explore personal meaning and any possible resolutions. Operating from a place of strengths-based support and solidarity, I will empower you to identify and adapt to your needs. By incorporating psychoeducation, trauma informed care, and harm reduction, I will work with you and hear you to understand your symptoms, guide you in learning and practicing skills to manage your distress, and provide a space for continued transformation.
After 10 years of practice with adults w/many needs, my approach is humanistic, eclectic, and at times existential, which includes basic CBT/DBT skills when needed and assessment for additional external supports and resources. I’m an artist and a Board-Certified Art Therapist, and am also trained in EMDR through the Institute for Creative Mindfulness.
In art therapy we may utilize art-making as an introspective process, a mindfulness-based coping skill, or as a way to experience freedom, play, and catharsis. You are not expected to have training or skill as an artist when using art in therapy but a willingness to explore is encouraged!
