Traumatic situations can vary from unresolved grief/loss, witnessing/experiencing a violent incident or accident, physical and sexual abuse, to betrayal in relationships. These experiences leave "imprints" on the mind and body which can leave us feeling anxious, depressed, “numb,” avoiding situations/places, unwanted memories, nightmares and guilt.
I use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to get to the core of WHY we feel this way and where it comes from. We can't change the past, but we can change how we feel about it in regards to ourselves. I strive to use techniques that are suitable and apply to you through my collaborative and person-centered approach.
While the therapeutic process can be intimidating, my collaborative style can provide the ease with which change becomes less overwhelming and scary.
