Your teen used to seem more motivated, connected, or confident, but lately they appear withdrawn, numb, or checked out from the world around them. Maybe they spend most of their time isolated in their room, have lost interest in things they once enjoyed, or respond with “I don’t know” to almost everything. Beneath the shutdown, you sense sadness, hopelessness, or a belief that nothing will really change. As a parent, it can feel painful and helpless watching your teen disappear emotionally while not knowing how to reach them.
Using narrative therapy, solution-focused therapy, I help teens separate themselves from negative beliefs about who they are and where they’re headed. Together, we build motivation, challenge hopeless thinking, strengthen coping, and reconnect teens with their values, confidence, and identity while helping parents support without escalating shutdown.
Over time, teens often begin to feel more hopeful, engaged, and emotionally present. Families experience more connection, less tension, and more meaningful conversations.
