Jaclyn Schwartz, MA, holds a license in marriage and family therapy (LFMT) through the California Board of Behavioral Health. She has been working with individuals and couples for the past 14 years in person and through telehealth, and currently works over zoom in order to see people from all over California. Addiction and betrayal causes trauma that is real and treatable.
While I understand and utilize the 12-step models when working with addiction, I am also APSATs trained and use a partner-sensitive approach when working with individuals/couples after betrayal. I utilize both Family Systems Theory and my extensive background working with betrayal trauma when working with couples in setting up a successful partnership.
Shame keeps people isolated. Fear tells you to avoid feeling shame. Calling for help takes courage and allows the chance for healing the self and/or the relationship. Having hard conversations about your partnership and being truly intimate can be scary and vulnerable. Working together I will respect the courage this takes and the safety you need.
