About
I am a firm believer in evidence based treatments and have extensive training and practice in such. That being said, I recognize that "evidence" is usually based on outcomes of clinical trials with very controlled environments where very specific populations with very specific diagnoses are treated. Thus, I find that I am most effective when adapting, integrating and tailoring treatments to my clients' individual needs.
Most of my clinical training was at VA hospitals in Palo Alto, CA and Asheville, NC, treating post-traumatic stress and substance use disorders. Later, I worked with a more diverse population at a private clinic near DC. After two of years providing attachment therapy to parents in the Charlottesville area, I currently enjoy growing my private practice.
I have found that my diverse training and professional experiences allow me to approach individuals of all age groups with a unique and more comprehensive perspective. I have a large tool box that I continue to gradually and methodically stock with the best that the art and science of therapy has to offer.
