I believe that the therapeutic process, although painful at times, is very rewarding and that individuals can heal and have fulfilling lives from engaging in treatment. My ideal client is a person who is willing to consistently attend therapy and trust in the process. I understand that "resistance" is a necessary part of treatment and believe that trust comes when the client and therapist continue to interact with each other. Therapy can be an unique and rewarding experience; please join me on the road to discovering your authentic self.
I am a trained family therapist and have years experience working with adolescents, especially those with foster care and adoption histories. I provide interpersonal psychotherapy as well as family systemic therapy to help individuals and couples address relationship issues (e.g., violence, infidelity, etc.).
I am an African American lesbian and understand how race, culture and sexual orientation impacts an individual's sense of self.
