Today's world is plagued by distractions that take us away from what is fundamentally important. Learning to separate from an illogical need to please others may allow us to determine our path and help us to be true to ourselves. Clients need only have a desire for self-understanding and an openness to accountability to start their therapeutic journey.
My clinical experience is based in outpatient mental health and substance abuse counseling. I believe that the alliance between the counselor and the client is of utmost importance to productive treatment. Recent training in EMDR has opened my eyes to the brain's inherent desire to heal itself and how I can help guide clients to resolve inner conflicts.
Ultimately, I envision my work as a therapist to be founded in assisting the client to develop a better internal relationship with the self.
