I believe that in order to work on your issues -- regardless of what they are -- you must first feel safe and understood. My treatment approach is first to provide you with a safe environment created through empathic and non-judgmental listening. Change -- even positive change -- is difficult. By understanding my clients' individual strengths and applying effective treatment approaches, change can happen. This is a process that evolves through a working relationship of open communication and trust. Identifying and changing those patterns of behavior is the focus of our work together.
I specialize in (but am not limited to) treating alcohol and substance issues in individuals and groups and am also a New York State CASAC. Recovery, codependency, and family issues are all part of my work, and I am well equipped to help you effectively deal with whatever stage of change you are in.
My training and experience allow me to use a blended approach of cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, and person-centered therapy. My background as a group and individual therapist at Four Winds Hospital and my experience teaching graduate psychology at Pace University allow me to provide the clinical skills and knowledge necessary to help you.
