I have enjoyed working in transitional housing, residential facilities, and correctional facilities. Additionally, I've been honored to work with immigrants, adolescents with behavioral challenges and complex trauma, individuals with psychosis, self-harming behaviors, SI, HI, SUDs, those who have been incarcerated, the LQBTQIA community, individuals with disabilities or those who may be experiencing chronic illnesses, individuals who may have offended or been offended against sexually or those who may be grieving. Joining with clients as they embark on their path towards wholeness is one of my greatest joys!

I use an array of counseling theories and techniques along with play therapy, expressive art, therapeutic yoga, guided relaxation and other holistic approaches to help provide healing, wellness and integrated wholeness to my clients. Working collaboratively with other providers, I offer my clients a complete support system to promote self-growth, recovery, serenity and balance. I employ a full spectrum of cognitive behavioral and psycho-dynamic therapies; along with small group and individualized yoga, meditation, hypnosis and progressive relaxation to treat stress, depression, anxiety, OCD, insomnia, phobias, family changes, school issues, ADHD, self growth, and the navigation of life transitions and challenges.

I always gravitated to jobs that entailed helping people: Teacher; Red Cross; Covenant House. I had also pursued seminary studies and was briefly on track to becoming a clergyman. Entry into grad school to study Counseling seemed the next natural step in my career path. But there was a more profound reason I became a Professional Helper, and that is my own lifelong struggles with anxiety and depression.

We enjoy working with clients who are motivated to grow, change, and seek overall emotional health and wellness through the counseling process. We will create a safe and supportive environment so that our clients are able to set and meet their goals without feeling judged or criticized. Our clients "drive" the counseling process, while we gently support them on their road to personal growth.

My contact with clients starts by providing a safe, secure environment in which the client can slowly open themselves to the therapeutic process. I have special training in attachment issues and injuries but also blend cognitive behavioral, systems therapy, solution focused and neuroscience modalities into treatment as needed.

Originally from Sweden, I have worked here in the United States as a therapist for over 29 years. My husband and I reside with Buster, a German Shepard- Standard Poodle mix, who occasionally assists me with clients. Along with Buster, our blended family consists of seven children and fourteen grandchildren.In my years of experience, I have worked as a medical and psychiatric social worker/therapist in hospitals, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient programs and in private practice.
