The decision to begin therapy is one that can lead to a greater understanding of yourself and can help you to function better in all areas of your life. I approach counseling as a shared experience focusing on building a trusting relationship with my clients and opening doors to greater self-reflection, insight and empowerment. A successful outcome is one in which you leave knowing yourself better and have the ability to lead a more joyous life going forward.

I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 16 years of experience. I use an eclectic approach to therapy so that together we can tailor your therapy experience to your specific needs. I frequently utilize therapeutic interventions from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Interpersonal Therapy. I often assist clients in applying practices of Self-Compassion and Mindfulness into their daily lives.

I have been with Integrated Wellness Clinic for two years. I practiced as a Critical Care and Hospice Registered Nurse for almost 20 years until 2004. I have worked with issues such as chronic illnesses, depression, anxiety, grief/loss, addiction and dual diagnosis. Healing from the suffering caused by addiction, mental health, trauma, eating disorders and other co-occurring conditions is not simply about managing life; it is about transforming it. At IWC, we support this trans formative work with approaches that strengthen and nurture mind, body and spirit.

Asking for help is difficult, sometimes overwhelming. Most people are touched by anxiety, depression, relationship issues and even addiction at some point in their lives, either within themselves or a family member. I create a safe, relaxing and inviting space for you to begin dealing with these difficult, but treatable issues. Many people, particularly men, are socialized to ignore or never discuss their innermost feelings and worries. College students often struggle with questions about whom they are and whom they want to become. Parents often feel powerless to help their children. Together, we can work toward achieving your goals.

There are often demands and difficulties that cause us to lose our way. We may find ourselves feeling stressed, anxious, and depressed while trying to cope with daily life.  However, each of us is born with a purpose which has the potential to allow us to be our best. We possess the ability to change our present and our future. Therapy can be the avenue of change in helping us resolve behaviors and thoughts that can hinder our ability to live out our greatest possibilities.

I have specialized training in evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy and interpersonal therapy for the treatment of anxiety disorders (including post-traumatic stress, social phobia, generalized anxiety, and other phobias), as well as for depressive disorders and a wide range of other difficulties. I use evidence-based treatment practices, but find the most important factor in therapy is the therapeutic relationship. Without a strong alliance with the client, a therapist is limited in their ability to help the individual effect change.

I'm currently unable to take on new clients at this time. I see my job as helping people identify and develop their personal goals to living fuller, more satisfactory lives. Blending conventional and alternative approaches, I draw on a variety of styles and techniques to incorporate what will be most helpful for each client. I work with each client to help them build on their strengths to identify and achieve life goals.

I have over 20 years experience in private practice. I have also been a counselor educator for 13 years teaching at the graduate level and providing practicum and internship supervision for students entering the counseling field. I believe the counseling process is all about change, that is, changing current behaviors, thinking patterns, or feelings. Counseling will allow you opportunities to explore areas of concern, while challenging you to think and/or behave in new ways pertaining to the issues in your life. I believe this can be achieved through a balance of guidance, encouragement, support, and feedback.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who offers empathy and supportive listening in a safe environment . I have experience in working with children, adolescents and adults who has experienced trauma, grief, depression, anxiety, relationship issues and addictions. Included, but not limited to, stress management, depression, anger management, cultural-related issues, life and jobs skills development; behavioral planning, structural learning, crisis intervention, sexual perpetration and victimization, and some case management services.

As a person who’s gone through a huge amount of change lately, you’re probably wondering what your next steps are. It may seem like you’ve lost your motivation, sense of identity, security, stability, and more. Change causes us to lose things that are important to us, so it makes sense to say that change causes grief. Change can also lead us to anxiety and depression. I don’t know what you’ve lost recently, but I know it’s significant to you. Although I’m an expert on grief and loss, no one can establish expertise over your grief like you can. I understand the importance of being finely attuned to YOUR thoughts and emotions.

Feeling heard and supported and being understood by your therapist is a critical component of mental health care. Claire is invested in an approach emphasizing a more integrative, dynamic, and holistic approach to mental health. Claire is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Reality Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Creative Arts Therapy, Animal Assisted Therapy and Crisis Intervention. Claire has experience with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and group psychotherapy.

I work mainly with adults and couples and have 9+ years of experience working as a psychotherapist. I tend to focus on self-esteem, trauma, and childhood dynamics. I believe these issues are significantly connected to our relationship and work conflicts and often fuel anxiety, depression, and compulsive behaviors (such as drug and alcohol dependence). I also believe that the therapeutic relationship can be the most healing part of therapy and tend to use that as a guide.
