In addition, I specialize in any Marriage issue from roles, conflict, communication, affair recovery and transitions. It takes a lot of strength and personal fortitude to come to therapy, and I know it can be an uncomfortable and daunting process. Just getting yourself through the door is a huge win, and our best looks different every day. I believe building a strong relationship is at the core of a therapeutic and healing space, and the client is the expert of their own experience. I work to create a safe, affirming, and nonjudgmental space to work collaboratively in exploring whatever might be going on.

We are not meant to be solitary creatures. A lot of times, we might just need to verbalize our struggles to find the solutions that have been staring us in the face this entire time. Sometimes we need an objective ear, or someone to help us brainstorm ideas. And sometimes we might need some wisdom and resources to move us to the next level. Regardless of where you are at in the process, I can help! I am a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community and I am excited to bring mental health accessibility to a wide range of clients with diverse backgrounds and unique stories.

I believe that most individuals struggle to build a strong healthy relationship with a therapist, which leads to people not allowing themselves to be vulnerable, share their secrets or get to the root of the problem. The relationship in counseling is key and my main aim is to build a strong supportive relationship with clients that are ready to really find self-discovery, self healing and finally be able to talk about their 'truths' without judgement as its time to finally release pain, hurt, and trapped emotions that have been controlling their lives. For me there is no such thing as an ideal client, its just being the real you!

What if you felt heard and seen? What if you were more connected to your true self and could more freely express yourself in the world? What would your life look like if you were more present and connected to your own heart and the hearts of others?

Hey! Welcome. My name is Brianne, but please call me Bri. I’m excited you’ve decided to start or continue your healing journey with myself at your side. Like many therapists, I was drawn to this path because I was aware of, and experienced myself, a lot of hurt. Being a human is an incredible experience, and it’s really difficult, too. My hope is that through therapy and our relationship, you can make sense of your experiences and what it means to be human. As Gandalf once said, “All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”

Are you tired of feeling like nobody truly understands what you’ve been through? Have you had past experiences with therapists who just don't seem to "get" you? It’s time for a fresh start. The weight of unresolved trauma can be suffocating, trapping you in a cycle of endless struggle. The anxiety that skyrockets even when you go to the grocery store, the lingering cloud of shame when you are reminded of your past, and the persistent doubt if you're worthy of love – these narratives don't define you!

Sometimes in life it feels like we keep getting in our own way. We keep seeing the same unwanted results but we just can't find the point where we're getting it wrong. It can be hard to tell whether it's learned behaviors from past experiences, symptoms from something like ADHD or anxiety, or even a complete mystery. Taking some time to understand the what (am I doing?), why (is that what I do?), and how (that is impacting what I want?) can lay the foundations for change in those patterns. With a bit of self-compassion and hard work, of course.

I love working with individuals who recognize the need for healing and growth. I appreciate the moments when we are wanting to gain self-awareness, improve our relationships, and feel motivated to become more engaged in life. If you are not quite ready to heal, I enjoy helping you create a safe space in which to start. I enjoy getting to learn about what makes up the incredible Being that you already are, and most of all I love getting to work with you as you move towards your greatest potential.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Fort Collins?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
