I am an experienced licensed doctoral psychologist with the privilege of practicing for the past 20 years in Vermont. I am psychodynamically trained and have had extensive training in CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) and DBT (dialectical behavioral therapy). I am a licensed clinical social worker practicing in the Essex Junction area. My approach is a blend of strengths-based, motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioral therapy. These models are optimal for resistant or apathetic children and teens. The bulk of my experience is with children and adolescents suffering from the effects of trauma, disrupted attachments, and parent custody matters. I work well with teens that are experiencing identity challenges or peer conflicts, including depression and self-harming behavior. I work with adults, older adolescents, and couples, and facilitate groups. I treat depression, anxiety, interpersonal difficulties, family of origin issues, OCD, trauma, and grief/loss. Life is difficult and often painful - much more so for some than for others. This pain brings people to therapy to engage in a process that is itself often painful; and yet they do so willingly and with hope.
