I believe therapy isn’t about digging up negative experiences from the past and dwelling on them, it is about seeing the ways the past is controlling your present. When our past interferes with our present we can find ourselves feeling stuck and dissatisfied. We are perhaps surviving but not thriving. Therapy can also be about recognizing behavior patterns and/or learning better coping skills.
