I have training in Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy, Mindfulness, Breathwork, Somatic Integrative IFS, DBT, LGBTQ+ issues (including Gender Affirming work).
Are you feeling dragged down by life's challenges? The Zen proverb 'Let go, or be dragged' reminds us that in order to be free of suffering, we must let go. I am inspired by secular Buddhism and believe that suffering is an innate human experience, not created from life's problems, but from our clinging to "the way things should be" and resisting impermanence and change. I help individuals develop acceptance through mindfulness and other Eastern teachings to provide them with freedom to flow with life and equanimity to remain calm even amongst the most chaotic storms.

These approaches include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy for Trauma (CPT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Mindfulness, and Positive Psychology.
I am licensed in both Utah and Virginia. I specialize in women's mental health with the overarching goals of helping women find wholeness and develop resilience. I can help with depression, anxiety, trauma, life transitions, healthy habit-building, strengths-building, thought and emotion management, and more. I believe that the therapeutic process is most effective when it is collaborative, compassionate, and focuses not just on what seems to be going wrong, but also on what is fundamentally right (e.g., personal strengths).

I integrate the use of Internal Family Systems, Narrative Therapy, Art Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and EMDR during sessions.
Navigating through life can prove to be a tough task to tackle alone and sometimes reaching out for support is often the first and hardest step forward. I strive to meet clients where they are and provide them with a warm nonjudgmental space where they feel safe and supported to explore and process through what is going on within throughout their therapeutic journey. Being born in Ghana, West Africa and moving to the United States has also cultivated a passion with reaching and working with the immigrant community as well to provide the safe space and support needed to navigate the challenges and hurdles encountered on this journey.

I utilize powerful techniques such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing and Internal Family Systems to help clients access their subconscious and intuition, rather than relying on advice or problem solving from the logical mind which can often create cycles of fear and avoidance.
My passion is helping clients free themselves from their current symptoms while utilizing powerful techniques for release and recreation. Many of us carry wounds from the past we are not aware of, creating a cycle of repeated patterns often leading to self remorse and shame. Over time this can lead to dysfunctional relationships, health issues and difficulty trusting ourselves. My goal is for my clients to feel empowered in exactly who they are without any hindrance from past memories or relationships. Everyone carries deep wounds, but I believe it is truly possible to overcome them.

I employ EMDR, Internal Family Systems, Mindfulness and Nature-based interventions to help my clients learn to attune to their bodies, and cultivate greater self-awareness, well-being, and self-compassion.
I come alive partnering with the courageous ones who seek guidance looking at the tender, deep places in their lives. My therapeutic practice is grounded in the assumption that we are all doing the best we can as we tend to the joys and struggles of life. I practice from a trauma-informed perspective, and will work with you to create an emotionally safe space that honors all parts of you as we examine past coping strategies that may not be serving you well in this moment, and ultimately allow movement toward healing and transformation. I am committed to approaching my work through a justice-focused, anti-oppression lens.

As a therapist, my biggest goal is to help you to be kinder to yourself and to live a more easeful life. I've found that EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) are a really effective combination of therapies for people struggling with trauma, anxiety, life transitions, and relationship difficulties (and work well virtually!). These approaches may be new to you, but what's important to know for now is that they provide the tools to help heal trauma, increase self-compassion, improve relationships, and build a healthier and happier life.

Waitlist for new clients
1) Internal Family Systems (or IFS) therapy: IFS is an evidence-based, experiential approach (and is not family therapy, despite the name) that aims to shift how we relate to various parts of ourselves.
I currently have a short in-person waitlist (office is located in Cambridge, MA) and am not currently taking new telehealth clients - please email (rather than call) if you're interested in being added to the in-person waitlist. I work with adults, teenagers, and children around a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, OCD, relationship issues, life transitions, and the impacts of trauma. I have eight years of clinical experience, and three years of training through Harvard Medical School affiliates. My approach is relational, collaborative, and pragmatic. I specialize in (but don't limit myself to) the following areas:

Although my therapeutic approach is eclectic, I practice mainly from internal family systems, attachment-based theory, cognitive behavioral therapy, and psychodynamic modalities.
Taking the first step in identifying ways in which you would like to feel differently or aspects of behavior you'd like to change can be difficult. As a trauma-informed licensed professional counselor, I have found that one of the most important components of the therapeutic relationship is creating a nonjudgmental, safe environment that allows for growth and healing to transpire. We are a team that will work together in overcoming challenges you are experiencing and work towards changes you would like to make.

We have advanced training in IFS, EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, Art Therapy, Yoga, and attachment-based interventions.
Cutting edge trauma therapy that uproots symptoms at the source - our clients come to us after years of therapy that didn't get them to where they wanted to go. They're exhausted, fed up, and sometimes feel like they're broken. This is because their treatment only addressed 20% of the brain - and not even the part where mental health symptoms are born. Our trauma treatment specialists use innovative modalities to work directly with the brainstem to renegotiate our nervous system responses. Join our free site membership to receive weekly guided videos and educational resources.

Some schools of therapy bridge this gap and I use those too, particularly Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Internal Family Systems.
Many individuals I work with are in the midst of a major life transition or in need of one. Transitions can have many forms: loss or gain of income, status, health, security, or a loved one; the course of life bringing you into adulthood, parenthood, middle or old age; traumatic experiences; spiritual, psychedelic, or spontaneous experiences that alter your sense of self and the world. Other times you may sense that something is off but don’t yet have the words to articulate what needs to be changed. Some of the difficulties you may encounter at these times are anxiety, depression, anger, relationship trouble, and confusion.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapists

What is Internal Family Systems therapy?

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on sub-personalities, or “families,” within a person, which may be made up of wounded parts and unpleasant emotions like anger and shame. These sub-personalities can come into conflict with each other and with an individual’s core Self, leaving the person feeling detached from positive traits such as the “8 C’s” of confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, curiosity, courage, compassion, and connectedness. By healing a patient’s wounded parts, a therapist aims to restore balance and bring on positive change.

How does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

An IFS therapist will work with a patient to identify their particular sub-personalities, recognize the emotions powering them, and release them. By doing so, the patient should become more able to address any underlying problems their sub-personalities may have been trying to protect them from. Ultimately, a patient discovers ways to manage internal and external conflicts on their own, through techniques such as relaxation exercises, journaling, and making charts depicting the relationships between their core Self and their distinct parts.

Does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

IFS therapy has been shown to help people address conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic, fears and phobias, trauma, and substance use disorders. Some research has also found that it can help individuals deal with symptoms of physical health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, such as pain, everyday functioning, depressive feelings, and low self-compassion. There are some conditions for which IFS treatment, specifically discussions of one’s “parts,” may be less appropriate, such as schizophrenia or other states that involve psychosis or paranoia.

How long does Internal Family Systems therapy take?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for IFS therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core concepts of IFS, some patients quickly make progress. While experiences vary, most will find that it is a relatively longer-term therapy, involving months and sometimes years of sessions.
