My work is influenced by many trauma-informed practices including attachment theory, object relations, EMDR (trained), family systems, and internal family systems.
I work with young adults, families, and couples helping them to shed light on themselves and the systems of which they are a part. I have worked predominately with clients experiencing symptoms of PTSD, depression, anxiety, bipolar, addictive disorders, and personality disorders. I have a background in wilderness therapy and experiential treatment and love to introduce creative, alternative modes of expression to my clients, including yoga movement, narrative, and outdoor based therapies (walk and talk). By the end of our first session, most of my clients feel relieved and hopeful for their next steps.

I am trained in EMDR, IFS, DBT and CBT.
My office will be a space where you can feel comfortable and safe. Therapy requires vulnerability and sitting with discomfort. With me, you'll receive a lot of compassion and support. My expertise in processing trauma, as well as the coping skills I can teach you, will benefit your life in a positive way, if you choose to implement them. Do you ever have “big” reactions to things that don’t necessarily fit the situation? Does it get in the way of feeling confident in yourself or your relationships? That is an exhausting experience.

I utilize Internal Family Systems and somatic approaches, and DBT/CBT skills.
Are you struggling to connect with your true self? Do the beliefs you have about yourself affect your relationships? It can be challenging to embrace your core identity, and unpack the beliefs we hold about ourselves. Together we can learn to identify the ways in which you have protected yourself through relational patterns and coping mechanisms and create space to find who you really are outside of a history that may have left you feeling wounded, or not enough. As your therapist, I strive to create a relationship that provides the security needed to navigate these challenges, enabling you to find safety within yourself and others.

I also work with couples and complex family systems.
I believe everyone has what it takes to find joy, peace, and love in their lives through vulnerability and connection. After working through my own trials, I discovered that I wanted to help others and decided to become a therapist. I found a love for listening to others and trying to understand how their stories have shaped their view of themselves and the world. I enjoy connecting with people by encouraging them to explore new ways to find happiness within themselves and their relationships.

This includes Mind-Body Bridging, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Polyvagal Theory, Mindfulness Practices, and Internal Family Systems.
The journey to truly understanding ourselves can be a difficult and daunting task to navigate alone. In one moment, we may feel like the wind is in our sails, and without warning we may get caught up and trapped in the same familiar storms of shame, trauma, and pain. This can feel isolating and lonely, but you don’t have to be alone in life’s storms. As a therapist my aim is to help you reach self-acceptance, inner tranquility, and personal understanding to better endure and overcome any poor weather that life sends your way.

As an individual who masked her autistic traits until age 30, I have a passion for helping people understand themselves and how their brain works, and accepting the whole self. I believe healing is all about connection and integration. As a teen or adult, traumatic events, hard emotions, or living as a marginalized person in our societal structures can tend to leave us feeling defeated, isolated, and/or hopeless. Or, sometimes we just feel stuck in life. With a client-led approach, we can use a variety of interventions that you feel would help the most, including EMDR, DBT, Internal Family Systems Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and spirituality development.

I utilize aspects of Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Trauma-Focused CBT, Internal Family Systems, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, EMDR and experiential methods in my practice.
I understand that change is achieved through the creation of a safe, trusting relationship, making space to have your story heard, your strengths recognized, and your emotions witnessed. Creating that type of space requires lots of realness and a little time.

I work with individuals who have experienced trauma, are struggling with anxiety and depression, or are just feeling overwhelmed with the emotions and stress of the human experience. Using effective modalities, such as EMDR and IFS, together we uncover the root cause of distress and work to resolve issues. My clients learn the neuroscience of how the mind, heart and body are interdependent parts of our complex physiology, and use that knowledge to develop practical, tangible tools that create lasting changes. I aim to empower clients to take charge of their wellness so that therapy is not an endless endeavor.

I have training in EMDR, attachment, internal family systems and feminist/multicultural therapy.
If you are struggling with feeling connected to yourself, if you are afraid of your emotions or you are feeling "numb", and/or if you "don't know what to do" I believe that I can help. I work from a feminist/multicultural perspective because I have found that helping someone find the balance between choice and surrender lends itself to a more empowered and fulfilling life. I have extensive training and experience working with survivors of sexual assault and I believe when we can find our own sense of power, life overall becomes more satisfying.

The privilege of a lifetime is to become - Carl Jung. ..... Becoming who you truly are can be near impossible when you're struggling just to focus and get through the day. Therapy is very much a process of developing a relationship with someone you can truly trust who takes the time to really get to know you and what you’re going through. Treatment depends on the cause, which could be related to trauma, temperament, biology, and relationships to name a few. We will work together to identify what’s causing your distress and develop a plan to fit your individual needs.

I am a trauma informed therapist integrating traditional talk therapy along with Mindfulness, EMDR, IFS, Yoga, Attachment & Somatic therapies and Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy.
As we move through life, we learn to censor, silence and ignore our own voice - through trauma (large and small), unmet needs for connection & acceptance, and endless external expectations. This experience can separate us from our unique purpose, potential and wellbeing. The result: perpetual cycles of suffering, distress, relationship difficulties, anxiety and depression. I am passionate about helping individuals interrupt these pattern and build from their unique strengths and innate resilience - to heal and grow from difficulty and build lives filled with joy and passion and connection to your own self authority.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapists

What is Internal Family Systems therapy?

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on sub-personalities, or “families,” within a person, which may be made up of wounded parts and unpleasant emotions like anger and shame. These sub-personalities can come into conflict with each other and with an individual’s core Self, leaving the person feeling detached from positive traits such as the “8 C’s” of confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, curiosity, courage, compassion, and connectedness. By healing a patient’s wounded parts, a therapist aims to restore balance and bring on positive change.

How does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

An IFS therapist will work with a patient to identify their particular sub-personalities, recognize the emotions powering them, and release them. By doing so, the patient should become more able to address any underlying problems their sub-personalities may have been trying to protect them from. Ultimately, a patient discovers ways to manage internal and external conflicts on their own, through techniques such as relaxation exercises, journaling, and making charts depicting the relationships between their core Self and their distinct parts.

Does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

IFS therapy has been shown to help people address conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic, fears and phobias, trauma, and substance use disorders. Some research has also found that it can help individuals deal with symptoms of physical health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, such as pain, everyday functioning, depressive feelings, and low self-compassion. There are some conditions for which IFS treatment, specifically discussions of one’s “parts,” may be less appropriate, such as schizophrenia or other states that involve psychosis or paranoia.

How long does Internal Family Systems therapy take?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for IFS therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core concepts of IFS, some patients quickly make progress. While experiences vary, most will find that it is a relatively longer-term therapy, involving months and sometimes years of sessions.
