You who are highly sensitive and feel a lot, welcome! You'll explore more deeply with me than in traditional talk therapy. You’ve likely tried psychotherapy before but have noticed that the work has either gone nowhere or taken you only so far, or you felt misunderstood. With an uncanny and intuitive ability to really “get” people from many walks of life, I will invite you to go beneath your thoughts, connect with your body and emotions, and gently access the root of your emotional discomfort and hurts to facilitate noticeable shifts with each session.

If you would like to explore "bottom-up" approaches such as EMDR, Brainspotting, and Internal Family Systems (IFS)/Parts Work to decrease the intensity of your current symptoms and to establish that re-connection to Self, I look forward to our work together.
Therapy is about establishing re-connection. Re-connection to others (friends, family, partners, etc) of course, but primarily re-connection to Self...our feelings, our thoughts, our beliefs, and a sense of safety in our bodies. If you struggle with depression, anxiety, dissociation, substance abuse, self-harming, or other self-sabotaging behaviors you just may be trying your best to survive intolerable circumstances as you move through this world. Without a safe connection to Self, relationships to others are inevitably disrupted.

I work with couples and families using Family Systems Therapy and Family/Marital Therapy.
Are you feeling overwhelmed, stressed, and overly emotional? Trying to "fix" things on your own without success? Untreated, these feelings often lead to anxiety, depression, family conflict and increase stress; this prevents you from living your life to the fullest. Coping during stressful times requires talking to a compassionate professional who will treat you with dignity and respect. The goal of therapy is for each person to reach their highest potential in all areas of their lives. I treat children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families experiencing various emotional and psychological symptoms.

Shame dies when stories are told in safe places. Your story matters. Experiencing trauma can make us feel alone, ashamed, & burdened with self-doubt. When you take the brave step toward therapy and healing, you no longer have to do that alone. I work to hold a safe space so that each person who comes to me is able to openly share their story while learning how to access the tools to heal all wounds that they carry. I use Internal Family Systems as an approach to work on the root of pain and to help clients heal. I am certified in DBT therapy to help individuals regulate their emotions and build skills to navigate relationships.

With a background in psychodynamic, family systems and attachment theories, I believe we become who we are as a result of our experiences growing up in our families.
TELEHEALTH (audio/video) SESSIONS ARE AVAILABLE. Throughout our lives, we all experience challenges with sadness, worry and anger that can reach overwhelming levels. When the stress of these feelings negatively impacts daily functioning, relationships, work performance or physical health, it is time to learn what can be done differently. Through active listening, supporting, challenging and providing education about the interplay of thoughts, feelings and behaviors, I work collaboratively and non-judgmentally with my clients to understand themselves better to create a more satisfying life and stronger, more confident sense of self.

My approach centers around traditional Client Centered Therapy, Transpersonal Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Internal Family Systems.
Your journey for a more fulfilling life has begun. It is said that the most important factor for growth and change in therapy is the relationship between the client and the therapist. My style as a clinician is warm and welcoming. My philosophy is to let the client show me what he/she needs, and to move slowly and mindfully in a spirit of partnership. I believe when I listen closely and carefully to what someone shares, they will tell me where it hurts, and together, we discover how to transform the pain into a life of joy, peacefulness, and wellbeing. I see my role as a guide and teacher, bringing to you options and possibilitie.

Counseling is more than telling your story. It is a dynamic process we engage in together, compassionately and diligently. It couples personal exploration with education. Having completed the level 1 training for Internal Family Systems I create a safe space for all parts of self to be present in the room. All parts are welcomed and honored as an intricate part of creating who we are. I also utilize an active Sensorimotor and trauma informed approach to help you re-establish emotional and relational balance. Whatever struggle you are facing: depression, anxiety, addiction, troubled relationships, the therapeutic process can help.

I find great satisfaction in working with families, couples, and individuals, using elements of various therapy models such as Gestalt, Jung, EMDR and IFS.
I believe that we all have an instinct toward growth and healing, and my experience with clients continues to affirm that with good support, everyone has the innate capacity to change. I trust and respect clients by bringing my genuine curiosity, deep sense of acceptance, and keen intuition to what they share with me. Troubling events and traumas happen to all of us, but as we explore old beliefs and process through difficult emotions, it is possible to alter those ingrained habits that prevent growth, and move into a more free experience of yourself. I have an open, relaxed, interactive style based on a holistic perspective.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapists

What is Internal Family Systems therapy?

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on sub-personalities, or “families,” within a person, which may be made up of wounded parts and unpleasant emotions like anger and shame. These sub-personalities can come into conflict with each other and with an individual’s core Self, leaving the person feeling detached from positive traits such as the “8 C’s” of confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, curiosity, courage, compassion, and connectedness. By healing a patient’s wounded parts, a therapist aims to restore balance and bring on positive change.

How does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

An IFS therapist will work with a patient to identify their particular sub-personalities, recognize the emotions powering them, and release them. By doing so, the patient should become more able to address any underlying problems their sub-personalities may have been trying to protect them from. Ultimately, a patient discovers ways to manage internal and external conflicts on their own, through techniques such as relaxation exercises, journaling, and making charts depicting the relationships between their core Self and their distinct parts.

Does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

IFS therapy has been shown to help people address conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic, fears and phobias, trauma, and substance use disorders. Some research has also found that it can help individuals deal with symptoms of physical health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, such as pain, everyday functioning, depressive feelings, and low self-compassion. There are some conditions for which IFS treatment, specifically discussions of one’s “parts,” may be less appropriate, such as schizophrenia or other states that involve psychosis or paranoia.

How long does Internal Family Systems therapy take?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for IFS therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core concepts of IFS, some patients quickly make progress. While experiences vary, most will find that it is a relatively longer-term therapy, involving months and sometimes years of sessions.
