Modalities of treatment used are trauma-informed CBT, Internal Family Systems (IFS), relational, anti-oppressive, culturally-sensitive, and client-centered therapy.
Welcome to therapy! It takes a level of courage, resilience, and empowerment to get here. I am a trauma-informed licensed mental health clinician working with adolescents, young adults, and the adult population. I specialize in supporting survivors of intimate partner violence and domestic violence. I also work with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, low self-esteem, and personality disorders. I truly believe that in working through these struggles, a client needs to be supported and encouraged to freely voice their thoughts, feelings, and emotions in a nonjudgemental, caring, and open space.

Common modalities that I use are Internal Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, strength-based approaches and dynamic theories for processing.
I have been committed to helping those who are looking to improve their relationship with themselves, and as a result, improve their relationship with others and the world around them. Though I continue to work with adults of all ages, the majority of my clientele have been college aged individuals who are navigating early adulthood and the challenges that comes with this phase of life.

Understanding how this tapestry weaves together can promote new awareness and potential change. I will collaborate, and help you to work through the challenges getting in your way, so you can actualize your own healing. Meditation, stress management techniques, and REIKI are available for your own personal tool box and self care.

There is nothing wrong with you for feeling afraid, anxious, depressed, angry, depleted of energy, numb, lost, and confused. In fact, your courage and your willingness to be vulnerable are what make you resilient. Your body is responding to its environment, and that’s normal. It is sending you messages and we are going to decipher those messages together. Be so kind to yourself as you are about to embark on a journey of self-discovery and healing.

You feel the pressure to be "on" all the time- with the kids, at work, in all of your relationships. You may even be everyone's go to person, always willing to lend a hand. On the inside, it feels like you are drowning from all of the stress. That might look like snapping and being more irritable with your kids or spouse, and then feeling guilty afterwards. Or, having a really hard time setting boundaries because you want to make everyone around you happy. One thing is for sure, you don't want to go on this way and are ready for some relief.

We are a team of licensed counselors passionate about working with clients who are seeking mental wellness. We can support you as you combat anxiety and depression, explore your identity, wade through life transitions, or learn to build healthier relationships. We can help you discover the strengths that nourish your inner resilience - because we do believe experiences of trauma, oppression, and neglect shape you, but we also believe you have an incredible ability to heal. It is for this reason we adopted the blossoming cherry tree as a symbol of our work - it reminds us of the ways that being open to change builds resilience.

"I understand that sometimes this just feels way too hard: sorting through the interwoven, complicated threads of what’s working in life and what’s broken, and then taking action to heal the broken bits is difficult work. But I assure you the quick solution never provides sustainable relief." -Pooja Lakshmin, author of Real Self Care. You and I will work together, building momentum toward the change you envision for yourself. Many of my clients are adolescents, young adults and college students, postpartum parents, and families of children with special needs.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapists

What is Internal Family Systems therapy?

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on sub-personalities, or “families,” within a person, which may be made up of wounded parts and unpleasant emotions like anger and shame. These sub-personalities can come into conflict with each other and with an individual’s core Self, leaving the person feeling detached from positive traits such as the “8 C’s” of confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, curiosity, courage, compassion, and connectedness. By healing a patient’s wounded parts, a therapist aims to restore balance and bring on positive change.

How does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

An IFS therapist will work with a patient to identify their particular sub-personalities, recognize the emotions powering them, and release them. By doing so, the patient should become more able to address any underlying problems their sub-personalities may have been trying to protect them from. Ultimately, a patient discovers ways to manage internal and external conflicts on their own, through techniques such as relaxation exercises, journaling, and making charts depicting the relationships between their core Self and their distinct parts.

Does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

IFS therapy has been shown to help people address conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic, fears and phobias, trauma, and substance use disorders. Some research has also found that it can help individuals deal with symptoms of physical health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, such as pain, everyday functioning, depressive feelings, and low self-compassion. There are some conditions for which IFS treatment, specifically discussions of one’s “parts,” may be less appropriate, such as schizophrenia or other states that involve psychosis or paranoia.

How long does Internal Family Systems therapy take?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for IFS therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core concepts of IFS, some patients quickly make progress. While experiences vary, most will find that it is a relatively longer-term therapy, involving months and sometimes years of sessions.
