I also use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Internal Family Systems as my primary approaches.
Welcome, I'm glad you're here. I work with young people typically 12-22 years old, helping them identify what they want to address in therapy, letting them lead this process, and collaborating with them until they feel they have met their goals. I enjoy helping my clients find hope, learn about themselves, and develop healthy skills. I enjoy working with young people because I can be a person in their life who sees them not only in their difficulties but who sees their gifts and strengths. I am experienced in helping young people navigate stress & anxiety, depression, trauma, OCD, and other mental health challenges.

Nobody could have prepared you for the pain of being in a high conflict/sexless marriage. You are either arguing all the time or avoid difficult topics altogether because you know that they will end in conflict. Your relationship feels tense like you are walking on eggshells. The resentment is building and you are beginning to ask yourself if this is the life you want anymore. You desire intimacy and connection but the emotional distance makes it feel impossible. Does this sound familiar? Visit my website or book a free 20 min consult with me to learn more: cultivatetherapyteam.clientsecure.me/request/clinician

Do you find yourself spending hours going in circles talking or thinking about something with no resolution, & in the end feel unheard and alone? Which then in turn perpetuates worries, the inability to trust your own thoughts, & then feeling like its better to do everything on your own. Without connection we are merely surviving & perpetuating the idea that we have to experience this life on our own. While under the surface we wonder why we feel out of control and lost.

I work with clients who have histories of trauma varying in severity. This can look like trouble with regulating and making sense of emotions. In terms of diagnoses, I often work with clients with PTSD, depression, anxiety, manic episodes, and dissociation. My clients want to regain their sense of agency. My clients become more aware of the connection between current behavioral tendencies and pivotal events from their past. My clients become comfortable feeling uncomfortable exploring issues and experiencing the emotions that arise. My ideal clients understand that progress is dependent on dedication and consistency. Very possible.

Therapy is not always comfortable as you begin to unravel so many difficult narratives at times. Whether you have been through one difficult experience or multiple hardships or you have resolved trauma that has resurface. Therapy is a step of bravery in your healing journey. I will always lean on you to set the tone, as I am a firm believer that individuals are experts on their lives and know what they need. As your counselor I will consistently work to provide a non judgmental space that is free of pressures and allows transparency. It is in such a space that healing and introspection can be fostered to reach your goals.

“I don’t feel heard,” or “I can’t seem to do anything right,” are common feelings expressed by the couples I work with. Individual clients feel overwhelmed and stressed, “My life is changing dramatically and I’m not sure what to do next.” As one who has had many life experiences, I may identify with many of the feelings you are experiencing, whether in relationships, feelings of anxiety or depression, or struggles with important decisions. I love the variety we each bring to our interactions and I would be honored to walk alongside you. See if I'm accepting new clients and book online at www.resolutioncc.com/team

You're slamming the alarm clock; it was another night of broken sleep. Feeling drained and wishing for a moment of peace and happiness. You are giving to others when you're running low and rarely have time for yourself. Pressures and stress are piling up and weighing on your shoulders. You want to reach out for help but are scared of being vulnerable. At night when you lay down to sleep, the thoughts are racing and the worries return. All that you want is understanding, support, and acceptance.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapists

What is Internal Family Systems therapy?

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on sub-personalities, or “families,” within a person, which may be made up of wounded parts and unpleasant emotions like anger and shame. These sub-personalities can come into conflict with each other and with an individual’s core Self, leaving the person feeling detached from positive traits such as the “8 C’s” of confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, curiosity, courage, compassion, and connectedness. By healing a patient’s wounded parts, a therapist aims to restore balance and bring on positive change.

How does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

An IFS therapist will work with a patient to identify their particular sub-personalities, recognize the emotions powering them, and release them. By doing so, the patient should become more able to address any underlying problems their sub-personalities may have been trying to protect them from. Ultimately, a patient discovers ways to manage internal and external conflicts on their own, through techniques such as relaxation exercises, journaling, and making charts depicting the relationships between their core Self and their distinct parts.

Does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

IFS therapy has been shown to help people address conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic, fears and phobias, trauma, and substance use disorders. Some research has also found that it can help individuals deal with symptoms of physical health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, such as pain, everyday functioning, depressive feelings, and low self-compassion. There are some conditions for which IFS treatment, specifically discussions of one’s “parts,” may be less appropriate, such as schizophrenia or other states that involve psychosis or paranoia.

How long does Internal Family Systems therapy take?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for IFS therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core concepts of IFS, some patients quickly make progress. While experiences vary, most will find that it is a relatively longer-term therapy, involving months and sometimes years of sessions.
