My therapeutic style includes techniques from Solution-Focused (to identify and reach tangible goals), Motivational Interviewing (to help you get clarity), Emotion-Focused (for emotional awareness, expression, or regulation), and Internal Family Systems (for cultivating healthy self-compassion).
I offer an affirming and anti-oppressive space for you to explore who you are, what you’ve been through, how those experiences have shaped you, and how you’d like to shape your future. Everything is connected: symptoms such as anxiety and depression are often related to relationship and resource issues, which connect to things like identity, neurotype, or environment. I work with teens and adults struggling with multiple concerns within themselves, their relationships, and their communities.

I also integrate Internal Family Systems parts work to find the maladaptive thoughts and beliefs your past has developed in you.
I believe therapy is a way to enrich life and develop connection in a space with compassion and free of judgment. My methods involve treating the whole person, mind, body & spirit. I believe it is important to identify and process emotion, non-verbal communication, somatic expressions and subconscious processes. Memories play a part in how our brains process and store meaning to life. Misinterpreted meaning sometimes becomes internalized and leaves us with unwanted thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. As we work together we process those memories leaving undesired mind/body connections behind.

I incorporate skills from several evidence-based modalities and somatic approaches including EMDR, Mindfulness, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
Are you finding yourself stuck in the same cyclical patterns of unhealed wounds and behaviors that are affecting your overall mental health and wellbeing? Do you find yourself repeating the same actions that have caused unnecessary pain and suffering in your life? Do you often feel alone and struggle with intrusive thoughts or overwhelming emotions? At times, we may feel lost in our own individual journeys, however, therapy can be a tremendous segue into personal healing. I believe in treating the root of the symptom while supporting my clients through their emotional processes geared toward resolution & transformation.

I am certified in EMDR and training in DBT and IFS.
The most important variable of having a successful experience in therapy is when therapy is provided in a safe, confidential, and comfortable space with a healthy and strong therapeutic alliance between the therapist and the client. It has been my life’s calling and honor to support someone in their journey of emotional healing. My hope is that you experience, maybe for the first time, your true and authentic “self". And to build healthy, loving relationships with others.

We all have experience working with complex family systems, provide guidance when needed to navigate problems, and hold a grounded space for you to process difficulties.
Often times people come to therapy due to feeling excessive stress at work, at home, or in their relationships. They find the pressures of every day life have exceeded their abilities, overwhelmed their senses, and left them with an inability to cope. They are often having problems going to school, completing tasks, getting along with others at work, and finding activities enjoyable resulting in low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, or other symptoms. Families often report not being able to get along or feeling overwhelmed with parenting a child that is having behavioral problems. They know they need to make a change.

My two favorite ways to do this are with EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy) and Internal Family Systems (IFS).
Hello and welcome! Have you experienced unsettling, stressful, scary, or traumatic situations that are impacting your daily life? Or have you noticed life is feeling chaotic and unmanageable, or seeming to spin you out of control? Your symptoms might include excessive amounts of worry, difficulty sleeping, negative beliefs about yourself or the world, irritability, low mood, or thoughts and memories that intrude on your daily life. If this sounds familiar, you are likely in the right place!

Life changes can come at us fast, and we don't always have the support we need in our families and friend groups to weather the transitions. Getting a first big job, coming out, starting or ending a relationship, or learning we have an illness can rock our sense of who we are and where we belong. We all need a safe space to express our hurt and joy; my job as a counselor is to help you find that space and help you cultivate the skills to get your needs met effectively.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapists

What is Internal Family Systems therapy?

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on sub-personalities, or “families,” within a person, which may be made up of wounded parts and unpleasant emotions like anger and shame. These sub-personalities can come into conflict with each other and with an individual’s core Self, leaving the person feeling detached from positive traits such as the “8 C’s” of confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, curiosity, courage, compassion, and connectedness. By healing a patient’s wounded parts, a therapist aims to restore balance and bring on positive change.

How does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

An IFS therapist will work with a patient to identify their particular sub-personalities, recognize the emotions powering them, and release them. By doing so, the patient should become more able to address any underlying problems their sub-personalities may have been trying to protect them from. Ultimately, a patient discovers ways to manage internal and external conflicts on their own, through techniques such as relaxation exercises, journaling, and making charts depicting the relationships between their core Self and their distinct parts.

Does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

IFS therapy has been shown to help people address conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic, fears and phobias, trauma, and substance use disorders. Some research has also found that it can help individuals deal with symptoms of physical health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, such as pain, everyday functioning, depressive feelings, and low self-compassion. There are some conditions for which IFS treatment, specifically discussions of one’s “parts,” may be less appropriate, such as schizophrenia or other states that involve psychosis or paranoia.

How long does Internal Family Systems therapy take?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for IFS therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core concepts of IFS, some patients quickly make progress. While experiences vary, most will find that it is a relatively longer-term therapy, involving months and sometimes years of sessions.
