I honor what makes us unique and appreciate each individual experience. I believe we want to be our best selves and find happiness and enjoyment in our lives. Sometimes discovering what is hindering this growth is found in a supportive, therapeutic relationship. I am a Clinical Therapist with over 20 years working with individuals healing from trauma and couples navigating relationship issues. I believe in the significance of aligning the mind and body and find that awareness of our somatic experiencing and parts (IFS) to be incredibly helpful in increasing feelings of connection, self-compassion and trust in Self.

Big or small, trauma is trauma, it is something that I enjoy helping people navigate through and come out of. Your story is important, and it is an honor when you share it with me. I am a big fan of Internal Family Systems Theory and integrate it with all other aspects of our work together. I believe we all share an internal world of "protective parts" and through them we can begin the healing process.

Techniques that I am well versed in is: CBT, SFBT, MI, EMDR, and Family systems approach.
Being able to seek out help is difficult and there are so many thoughts of “will this help?” which is completely valid. It is scary but seeking help can also be empowering and a sign of strength. I strongly believe in building from your strengths and resilient qualities. My priority is providing a safe space to feel heard, understood, and validated without judgment. The focus of our sessions will entail compassion, empathy, and reflection.

I provide insight-oriented individual counseling that blends Internal Family Systems ("parts work") with experiential therapies (art, narrative, somatic).
I love working with highly sensitive individuals, artists, and social outcasts of all kinds (Website: Erin-Love.com). There is a place for you in this world, even when it feels like it wasn't designed with you in mind at all. As a neurodivergent therapist, I bring lived experience + resources to challenges with executive functioning, social anxiety & masking, nervous system sensitivity, and feeling chronically misinterpreted. I am also passionate about helping others navigate their way through an existential crisis of identity and meaning, and revere the deeply vulnerable self-examination that occurs during life's many transitions.

While I have an eclectic style that draws from various evidence-based practices Internal Family systems are at the heart of my approach.
Some of these thoughts may sound familiar. "I am a failure, everyone is looking at me and judging me, I am not smart enough, I am not successful, I am a monster, I ruin everything" Sometimes our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors seem uncontrollable and unsolvable to the point where we become desperate and will do anything to make them go away even if that means sabotaging ourselves. In these hard moments, do you find yourself feeling alone and misunderstood? Are you ready to have a life with meaning, flourishing relationships, a sense of self-worth, and most importantly a healthy relationship with yourself?

What is Internal Family Systems therapy?

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on sub-personalities, or “families,” within a person, which may be made up of wounded parts and unpleasant emotions like anger and shame. These sub-personalities can come into conflict with each other and with an individual’s core Self, leaving the person feeling detached from positive traits such as the “8 C’s” of confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, curiosity, courage, compassion, and connectedness. By healing a patient’s wounded parts, a therapist aims to restore balance and bring on positive change.

How does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

An IFS therapist will work with a patient to identify their particular sub-personalities, recognize the emotions powering them, and release them. By doing so, the patient should become more able to address any underlying problems their sub-personalities may have been trying to protect them from. Ultimately, a patient discovers ways to manage internal and external conflicts on their own, through techniques such as relaxation exercises, journaling, and making charts depicting the relationships between their core Self and their distinct parts.

Does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

IFS therapy has been shown to help people address conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic, fears and phobias, trauma, and substance use disorders. Some research has also found that it can help individuals deal with symptoms of physical health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, such as pain, everyday functioning, depressive feelings, and low self-compassion. There are some conditions for which IFS treatment, specifically discussions of one’s “parts,” may be less appropriate, such as schizophrenia or other states that involve psychosis or paranoia.

How long does Internal Family Systems therapy take?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for IFS therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core concepts of IFS, some patients quickly make progress. While experiences vary, most will find that it is a relatively longer-term therapy, involving months and sometimes years of sessions.
