I have extensive experience working with clients from 17+ and use EMDR, IFS (informed), CBT and DBT (informed) to help people feel better very quickly.
I believe we all have the capacity to heal ourselves and therapy has transformational, color-of-the-sky changing power. Life can be very hard and reaching out for help is a brave step toward reclaiming your life. The amazing part of therapy is that you won’t be alone to “figure it out” - in fact, I’ll be your biggest advocate and cheerleader for your whole life wellness! I have greatly benefited from therapy and I use my own experiences to bring empathy, safety and compassion to the therapeutic process. It would be an honor to be part of your journey.

I primarily use cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) skills, solution focused brief therapy, motivational interviewing, Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, Emotion Freedom Techniques (EFT), and client based modalities.
I have worked with clients with various life problems such as work stress, family conflict, anxiety, depression, trauma symptoms, and parenting problems. While I have the most experience working with teenagers, in recent years I have branched out to work with adults and younger children. I have helped clients identify, process, and move past what is blocking them from living the life they want. I come from a therapeutic style of compassion, understanding, educating, and not judging. I believe that we all need to have a kind, unbiased, and honest person with whom we can trust to help where we need it sometimes.

UPDATE as of 9/7/23... I currently am NOT able to take on new clients. I appreciate your interest and apologize for any inconvenience this may create. I DO have availability with my MFT student/intern. Please reach out to be seen by him. We all struggle in life sometimes and need help! In this day and age it can be hard to find the space to discuss the challenges of life with someone in a safe and genuine way. I enjoy meeting people where they are at in life, without judgement, and helping them sort out their next steps whether they be for improvement, maintenance, or understanding.

I believe all people deserve to experience unconditional positive regard; the acceptance of who you are regardless of what you say or do. You are unique, and I like to embrace that uniqueness and show you how to use it as your own personal superpower. Although we cannot avoid loss, pain, disappointment, and trauma, I find that when people connect with others they are inherently strengthened. There is power in telling your story in safe spaces.

Are you a parent frustrated by your child's hyperactivity, battling for control, anger, defiance, or school behavior problems? Has your family experienced transitions like divorce, loss of a loved one, or moving to a new area? As parents, we want our children to be happy, healthy, well-rounded, joyful, and worry-free. We want them to be at peace with themselves and with others, and confident in themselves and their own abilities and aptitudes. Sadly we can't always protect them from broken relationships, hard choices, big challenges and tough losses. Sometimes we need trusted counsel to help navigate storms.

“When a person realizes he has been deeply heard, his eyes moisten. I think in some real sense he is weeping for joy. It is as though he were saying, ‘Thank God, somebody heard me. Someone knows what it’s like to be me" (Carl Rogers). I believe that therapy is an equal partnership and I view my clients as experts in their own lives. Through mutual respect, empathetic listening, and positive regard, I work alongside my clients to help them find resolution and peace.

I have over 25 years of experience assisting people to work through personal challenges. The COVID-19 pandemic has created additional challenges for many of us. The ordinary stresses and strains of living have become accentuated by the need to remain inside. I believe in therapy and have personally experienced the benefits of having a therapeutic relationship with a trained professional. My clients tell me that I am easy to talk with and that I am a good listener.

We are more capable of change than we believe. Before change is attainable, we must believe change is possible. Stephanie is Level II trained in EMDR, a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from symptoms & emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. In a relaxed environment using natural conversation, Stephanie helps clients become aware of self-defeating thoughts & behaviors that contribute to feeling overwhelmed & low self-esteem. By recognizing & changing these patterns, growth & healthy emotional responses develop, while self-doubt & confusion are transformed to self-confidence, clarity, & peace.

Somethings can be so sensitive or difficult we cannot talk to those who are involved. Maybe we need to discuss issues with those we are closest to us but can't or don't know how without causing conflict. At times we need someone who will listen judgment free. Relationships (self and with others) become “complicated” and impact our ability to function in our lives and cause distress and/or dysfunction often leading to poor coping and adapting skills, leading to depression, anxiety, suicide idealization, etc. Our sessions end organically. Our focus is on you and not arbitrary time restraints. We also offer 24 hour emergency support.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, and as a counselor, it's my passion to come alongside individuals who seek to deepen their self-awareness and cultivate healthier long-lasting relationships. A foundational belief I hold is that we are created for relationships, and those relationships can shape or break us. With that being said, I believe the sacred relationship between client and therapist has the ability to offer profound opportunities for both healing and transformation. My primary goal in treatment is to make sure every person walks away from session feeling seen, heard, and felt.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapists

What is Internal Family Systems therapy?

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on sub-personalities, or “families,” within a person, which may be made up of wounded parts and unpleasant emotions like anger and shame. These sub-personalities can come into conflict with each other and with an individual’s core Self, leaving the person feeling detached from positive traits such as the “8 C’s” of confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, curiosity, courage, compassion, and connectedness. By healing a patient’s wounded parts, a therapist aims to restore balance and bring on positive change.

How does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

An IFS therapist will work with a patient to identify their particular sub-personalities, recognize the emotions powering them, and release them. By doing so, the patient should become more able to address any underlying problems their sub-personalities may have been trying to protect them from. Ultimately, a patient discovers ways to manage internal and external conflicts on their own, through techniques such as relaxation exercises, journaling, and making charts depicting the relationships between their core Self and their distinct parts.

Does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

IFS therapy has been shown to help people address conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic, fears and phobias, trauma, and substance use disorders. Some research has also found that it can help individuals deal with symptoms of physical health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, such as pain, everyday functioning, depressive feelings, and low self-compassion. There are some conditions for which IFS treatment, specifically discussions of one’s “parts,” may be less appropriate, such as schizophrenia or other states that involve psychosis or paranoia.

How long does Internal Family Systems therapy take?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for IFS therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core concepts of IFS, some patients quickly make progress. While experiences vary, most will find that it is a relatively longer-term therapy, involving months and sometimes years of sessions.
