Developmentalists refer to this as "scaffolding". Like scaffolding for a building, these external supports are specific and put in place to allow for expansion and strengthening. I earned my doctorate from St. John's University and BA from NYU. I interned at Bellevue Hospital/NYU Child Study Center and ran a program at NY-Presbyterian Hospital. I understand how difficult it is to make the decision to begin therapy and find a good fit with someone with whom you can feel comfortable.
