I adopt an integrative approach to therapy, focusing primarily on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and incorporating Person-Centered Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Existential Therapy, and Art Therapy.
Life can be difficult—full of struggles, challenges, changes, and the unexpected. We keep these events in our minds, whether at the front to consciously influence all of our decisions, or packed away in a box in a corner, to be dealt with ‘in the future’. When your box begins to overflow or you realize that it is time to open it, I’m here to help you unpack, sort, and re-pack the box. My goal is to help you regain control of the box, so that the box no longer controls you.

Utilizing integrative therapy techniques, I help people navigate the emotional and existential insights gained, fostering a renewed sense of purpose and well-being.
Have you had a Near-Death Experience (NDE) or Out-of-Body Experience (OBE)? If so, I can relate! My experiences changed my life forever. These types of events often create significant psychological shifts, fostering a unique openness to self-exploration and change. Experiencers typically possess heightened self-awareness and may have re-evaluated their life priorities and values, which can facilitate a deeper therapeutic process. Their experiences can serve as a powerful catalyst for personal growth, making them exceptionally receptive to psychotherapeutic interventions aimed at enhancing mental well-being and life satisfaction.

When working with clients, I join them in their journey, walking alongside for the time we are working together. I believe the human person is made good, made for relationship, and that fullness of life is found in being able to be a gift to another. I believe life can be hard sometimes, and this can hinder our ability to have what we hope for in relationships. In therapy, I work with clients to resolve the concerns that prevent them from achieving the goals they have for their lives; with a focus on the healing of past experiences of trauma. I consider it an honor and privilege to serve my clients.

Everyone has a unique and individual story. Sometimes this story has deep and dark moments or complex traumas affecting the course of an individual's life. If you have moments in your story triggering PTSD, anxiety or depression, I would love to assist you through this and help change the areas no longer deserving of so much power in your life. I enjoy helping to empower individuals work past areas in their mind causing them to feel stuck. I hope to be able to work with you to feel empowered and brave enough to implement changes in your life.

Everyone has that moment where the pain is too much. I love giving people the space they need to explore what is causing the hurt, so that we can work together and find solutions. Sometimes that space or need is the schedule and the cost. I intentionally keep my office hours open for evening and occasional weekend sessions and my costs are designed to help those in East Texas that may not have insurance or high incomes.

We live in a world with set ideals and standards that weigh heavily on us pressing insurmountable expectations that we simply cannot meet. We also live with our own selves and our own minds putting the same demanding and unforgiving pressure on us. So, how might we break free into weightless grace? A jumping off point is beginning with “a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart" (Psalm 51:17). Our brokenness may range from depression, anxiety, grief, bitterness, addictions, shame, mental and emotional anguish and instability and are brought on by different variables such as trauma and attempting to shoulder this weight alone.

Your story matters. Your pain matters. You matter. The challenges you are facing are so difficult. You have been hurt deeply. You feel depressed, anxious, stressed, discouraged, and isolated. BUT, You do not have to settle for the way things are, and you do not have to continue to white-knuckle your way through life, dragging your feet, and just barely getting by. You do not have to go at it alone.

I believe a good counselor works their way out of a job...one client at a time. We all get "stuck" in life from time to time. My goal is to provide you with knowledge, tools, guidance, and support so that you can get "unstuck" and move on. Therapy is not magic...but it works. If you are struggling with emotional, behavioral, or relational problems I would like the opportunity to visit with you to see if I can help.

What is integrative therapy?
Integrative therapy is a type of therapy that combines ideas and techniques from different therapeutic approaches depending on the needs of the individual client. By merging elements of different treatments, an integrative therapist aims to offer a more flexible approach than those who practice just one type of therapy.
How does integrative therapy work?
Integrative therapy approaches a client’s mental, physical, and emotional health in a holistic way to discover the sources of their unhealthy behavior patterns or other challenges and considers the approach most likely to lead to improvement. Among the techniques an integrative therapist may practice are cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, EMDR, mindfulness, art or music therapy, psychodynamic therapy, breathwork, family systems therapy, gestalt therapy, and trauma-informed therapy. An integrative therapist regularly evaluates the client’s progress and is prepared to pivot to a different approach if progress stalls.
How long does integrative therapy last?
As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for integrative therapy; people who find they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that spurred them to seek treatment. New patients should understand that it may take some time for a therapist to land on a treatment approach that best meets their needs, but once they do, they should expect sessions to extend for a number of months, typically including at least 12 sessions.
How effective is integrative therapy?
There are hundreds of types of talk therapy, and research shows that while they vary in form, goals, and frequency, many if not all can produce similarly successful outcomes. But a single approach does not always deliver the greatest, or speediest, benefit, and so even therapists primarily trained in one model will use tools, language, techniques, or exercises from others to shape an effective treatment plan.
