Finding a therapist is difficult, it’s scary, and it can be overwhelming – there are so many different providers just on this site! I’m here to help. I’ll work with you to closely examine your past and present experiences to better your future. I promise you that in our sessions, I will bring empathy, honesty, collaboration, and an open mind. So, how do I practice? I’m an integrative therapist – I’m trained in psychodynamic therapy, and I use tools from other treatments, such as cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavior therapy, when appropriate and to better serve you.

Are you going through a life change, feeling anxious, or suffering from low self-esteem? Are you a parent under emotional strain or navigating a child's challenging behavior? Is your experience complicated by gender, race, cultural, sexual or religious identity? Whether you are new to therapy or disliked past providers, I can help. Opening up about your thoughts and feelings can be terrifying, or shame inducing. With the right connection, trust and pacing, momentum shifts from avoidance to confident engagement. By integrating evidence-based and psychodynamic techniques, I offer a more holistic, authentic approach to treatment.

I like working with people who want to know themselves better and are open to looking at their lives in a way they may not have done before. Most people seek psychological help because they want relief from pain and to feel more satisfied in their relationships, work, and with themselves. However, when they engage in examining their lives, things can take surprising turns that not only helps them achieve their goals but often results in redefining what they want in life.

Why? This is such a simple question, but perhaps one of the most difficult to answer. If we knew why – why we say the things we say, why we think the things we think, why we do the things we do – we would have more gratifying and less distressing lives. Self-awareness is the greatest gift we can give to ourselves, in order for us to reach our full potential. With your willingness and motivation, understanding your "why" is what we will work towards together in therapy.

As a former hospice bereavement coordinator with grief training from David Kessler, I can help bring hope to misery. I provide a safe place to feel heard and validated as you walk through an overwhelming maze of pain. You'll learn that you're not doing anything wrong; grief is hard! Instead of simply medicating the pain, we will do real work to address and heal from long-buried conflicts and new heartaches, moving toward a deeper and more lasting wellness. We'll learn that joy and happiness can exist right beside grief, and we'll discover tools to maintain connection to your loved one while learning how to honor them.

Relationships have the potential to be deeply fulfilling or immensely frustrating. Especially if they lead to conflict, disagreements, and disconnection. You may have tried therapy before but the issues persist and seem more and more untenable, gnawing at your sense of peace and happiness. As you sleep, you find yourself yearning for a deeper sense of meaning in your relationship. Anything to end the endless cycle of frustration, disappointment & hopelessness. You ask yourself if it's possible to get there.

As a mental health researcher and expert in culture and identity conflicts, my therapy work starts with making space for your unique lived experiences, identities, and how you show up in your different worlds. I am trained in a range of evidence-based therapy techniques including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), interpersonal therapy, and psychodynamic therapy. I help my patients learn about themselves, explore issues that have led to emotional distress, and teach skills to manage the situations at hand. Therapy can involve exploring your past, present, and future challenges and pursuing an emotional growth to handle it all.

Integrative Therapists

What is integrative therapy?

Integrative therapy is a type of therapy that combines ideas and techniques from different therapeutic approaches depending on the needs of the individual client. By merging elements of different treatments, an integrative therapist aims to offer a more flexible approach than those who practice just one type of therapy.

How does integrative therapy work?

Integrative therapy approaches a client’s mental, physical, and emotional health in a holistic way to discover the sources of their unhealthy behavior patterns or other challenges and considers the approach most likely to lead to improvement. Among the techniques an integrative therapist may practice are cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, EMDR, mindfulness, art or music therapy, psychodynamic therapy, breathwork, family systems therapy, gestalt therapy, and trauma-informed therapy. An integrative therapist regularly evaluates the client’s progress and is prepared to pivot to a different approach if progress stalls.

How long does integrative therapy last?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for integrative therapy; people who find they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that spurred them to seek treatment. New patients should understand that it may take some time for a therapist to land on a treatment approach that best meets their needs, but once they do, they should expect sessions to extend for a number of months, typically including at least 12 sessions.

How effective is integrative therapy?

There are hundreds of types of talk therapy, and research shows that while they vary in form, goals, and frequency, many if not all can produce similarly successful outcomes. But a single approach does not always deliver the greatest, or speediest, benefit, and so even therapists primarily trained in one model will use tools, language, techniques, or exercises from others to shape an effective treatment plan.
