I strive to empower clients in session to make sense of personal circumstances and experiences. Through greater exploration and self-understanding, clients can strengthen their sense of self and break down barriers. I use a client-centered and strengths-based integrative approach to improve self-esteem and autonomy. With a holistic, multicultural lens I help clients grow and seek clarity as they work through times of stress, anxiety, change, or stagnation. I believe self-compassion is one of the most important tenets of growth, and one of the most compassionate things one can do is seek and accept support.

I’ve come to understand the most effective approach to health and well-being to be holistic and integrative.
We all carry within us a dream, a purpose, a strength that flows, like water through our veins and every part of our being. It even flows through fear, pain, disappointment and all sorts of perceived failure. It gives meaning to life. It heals. It inspires. DreamWell LLC was born out of my dream to facilitate healing and to positively impact the lives of others. I hope to empower and support you in addressing the issues that have interrupted the flow of your personal and professional life and dreams.

Simply put, an ideal client is the one who just shows up. Whether or not you have been gently encouraged to seek therapy or you have made the decision on your own, it takes courage and intention to move forward on your journey towards growth, self-awareness, and healing. I tend to work well with clients who appreciate elevating and employing their level of introspection and insight. Ideal clients prefer and are open to delving deeper beneath the surface while at the same time understanding and appreciating the importance of behavioral based tools, techniques and interventions that ultimately help practical functionality.

My goal in therapy is to allow my clients to create more space in their lives and build healthier patterns. Our relationships are a large part of what make us who we are, yet our relationships can also be a great source of frustration, coupled with the stresses of daily life. I use a strengths-based, integrative approach in therapy, working with individuals, couples, and families. I find that the ideal time for a client to enter therapy is when one feels stuck or notices negative patterns, and is ready to create a positive change.

Therapy is a unique experience for each person. It helps you learn yourself, your relationships (past and present), and how you interact with the world. It is a place of self healing and understanding. It is a place to find safety and refuge to manage stress, anger, guilt, anxiety, overwhelming feelings, trauma, interpersonal conflict, and significant life events. I work with youth and adults to help address these issues. I am trained as a psychodynamic therapist, practicing from a relational standpoint. I use several clinical approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, attachment theory, and trauma focused therapy as needed.

Sometimes life changes because of the choices we make and sometimes life changes anyway. The necessary adjustments often challenge our coping skills and what used to work no longer does. I specialize in and particularly enjoy working with adults who are experiencing and adapting to life changes including romantic relationships, work, and parenthood. Therapy presents an opportunity to gain insight, learn, and practice new skills in a supportive and non-judgmental atmosphere. While therapy can sometimes be difficult, I am also an advocate of the mental health benefits of humor.

Affirmative Spaces specializes in providing psychotherapy to LGBTQ+ people of color and other marginalized groups. In treatment I utilize a culturally informed approach and strive to create a space where you are free to be your unapologetic authentic self, and ensure your experiences are honored, affirmed, and handled with care. Additionally, I utilize a theoretical approach that explores the influence of early relationships on current functioning. In each therapy relationship I collaborate with clients to gain insight to your unique experiences and how these experiences contribute to current distress experienced.

Integrative Therapists

What is integrative therapy?

Integrative therapy is a type of therapy that combines ideas and techniques from different therapeutic approaches depending on the needs of the individual client. By merging elements of different treatments, an integrative therapist aims to offer a more flexible approach than those who practice just one type of therapy.

How does integrative therapy work?

Integrative therapy approaches a client’s mental, physical, and emotional health in a holistic way to discover the sources of their unhealthy behavior patterns or other challenges and considers the approach most likely to lead to improvement. Among the techniques an integrative therapist may practice are cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, EMDR, mindfulness, art or music therapy, psychodynamic therapy, breathwork, family systems therapy, gestalt therapy, and trauma-informed therapy. An integrative therapist regularly evaluates the client’s progress and is prepared to pivot to a different approach if progress stalls.

How long does integrative therapy last?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for integrative therapy; people who find they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that spurred them to seek treatment. New patients should understand that it may take some time for a therapist to land on a treatment approach that best meets their needs, but once they do, they should expect sessions to extend for a number of months, typically including at least 12 sessions.

How effective is integrative therapy?

There are hundreds of types of talk therapy, and research shows that while they vary in form, goals, and frequency, many if not all can produce similarly successful outcomes. But a single approach does not always deliver the greatest, or speediest, benefit, and so even therapists primarily trained in one model will use tools, language, techniques, or exercises from others to shape an effective treatment plan.
