At IPG, we are proud pioneers in gender affirming psychotherapy for transgender and gender nonconforming people. We view gender diversity as normal, not a mental illness. We're more experienced than any other practice in New Jersey, with 800+ trans clients and 30+ years of experience. We were recently awarded a PROUD Award recognizing our decades of work with and dedication to the transgender community. At all three of our locations (Highland Park, Jersey City, and Freehold) we have skilled gender specialists who work with trans and GNC adults, adolescents, and children as young as three. We can help you or your child explore their gender. Not everyone who is gender nonconforming is transgender, not everyone wants to 'transition,' and not everyone wants medical intervention. No matter what you eventually decide for yourself, IPG will be there with support, resources, & substantial expertise.

We subscribe to the WPATH guidelines (World Professional Association for Transgender Health), which maintain that gender non-conformity is NOT a "mental illness" but a natural variation in human gender presentation, & that any attempts to "fix" gender-variant children by conforming them to traditional gender norms is harmful & unethical treatment.

Adolescent and Young Adult Gender Spectrum Group

This is a group for transgender and gender non-conforming teens and young adults, roughly between the ages of 14 and 23. It is a support group led by a psychotherapist, and gives trans and GNC kids an opportunity to meet others like them and develop connections. A corresponding parents groups runs concurrently. These groups meet at our Highland Park office, and are COMPLETELY FREE OF CHARGE!

Parents of Transgender/Gender Nonconforming Youth

We run groups for parents of transgender and gender nonconforming kids. The group for parents of pre-teen kids runs concurrently with the play group for those children. The group for parents of teen/youth runs concurrently with the support group for those young people. Groups are run by trained therapists. All groups are FREE OF CHARGE
