About
My ideal client would be open to my observations of their personality; one who knows that I too can learn from them, not only the other way around; who is a good historian and willing to be compliant in sharing pertinent factors to their recovery; one with whom I can establish a basis of mutual trust and who understands that my role as a therapist is not to only tell them what they want to hear; one who can appreciate a good sense of humor; one who is willing to apply my experience, strength and hope to their situation; one who is open to the importance of accepting life on life's terms, particularly the will of God.
Whether or not it's about addiction, I view ACCEPTANCE as the central key to handling our issues or as I once read, "our pain isn't so much in our problems but in our resistance to problems." As for addiction, I can sum it up by saying when you've found your bottom, then the only way is up. Until then you just have more research to do.
