I support individuals and couples with the symptoms of stress, self - esteem, betrayal, marriage and relationship struggles.
As a couple, you've found success in every aspect of life, yet when it comes to communication and connection, you're struggling. Despite your attempts, you find yourselves trapped in an endless loop of frustration, having the same arguments over and over. You crave a deeper connection with your partner, but the constant misunderstandings have left you feeling disconnected and distant. It's time to find your way back to each other again. You're ready to have a relationship you wake up feeling good about, a life you feel confident in, and energy leftover to pursue the things that matter most to you.

In therapy with couples, I help partners enhance communication, handle conflicts and money arguments, address sexual challenges, heal after an infidelity, or make the difficult decision whether to stay together or part ways.
OPEN TO NEW CLIENTS, INCLUDING COUPLES. In therapy, we can find a home for many longings: the nagging sense that something is missing, the yearning to experience happiness, or the desire to escape the patterns that keep us stuck. We cover up these longings with worries, distractions or addictions. Yet, even as we crave to satisfy our needs, we also fear (and even sabotage) getting what we want: success, love, intimacy, sobriety, or purpose. Therapy is a place to explore these longings and to find what stands in our way.

*NOT CURRENTLY TAKING NEW CLIENTS* Welcome to my psychology practice. Intimate relationships are challenging for just about everyone. Keeping a passionate connection alive over time requires unique skills, persistence and determination. I work with individuals and couples who wish to deepen emotional or sexual intimacy, improve communication, strengthen their romantic bond, heal from affairs, and folks who feel addicted to pornography or other sexual outlets, as well as depression, irritability, anxiety, etc. Probably the best way to get a sense of me quickly is to read my Psychology Today blog, The Future of Intimacy.

Sadness, depression, grief, anger, anxiety, betrayal, confusion, our relationships, and work stresses can leave us feeling lost and out of balance with ourselves and with others important to us. I have worked for 20+ yrs. with individuals and couples in Maryland and Massachusetts. I actively engage with my clients to bring about new insights, and fresh ways of thinking, feeling and behaving so a re-balance can occur. Together we work to release negative core beliefs and shift dysfunctional patterns resulting in clients' greater clarity, empowerment, peace, and satisfaction. Clients become more connected to themselves and others.

People come to see me when they feel stuck and have had enough. I help parents help their children; help couples and families get closer and happier; and in general help people successfully resolve issues such as: stress, anxiety, adjustment to new life circumstances (relocation, family changes), relationship issues (divorce, extra-marital affairs, conflict), and dealing with difficult family members. Typical 50 minute sessions don't work for everyone, so I offer longer sessions when appropriate (up to 4 hours), where we use experiential techniques (meditation, sound, movement, Ketamine) to go deeper and facilitate transformation.

Deciding to seek any form of support isn't always the easiest decision. Recognizing that you want to connect with a professional about anxiety, depression, previous trauma or just someone to talk to with an impartial view, is a tremendous step in your growth as an individual. I pride myself on my ability to meet with my clients where they are at. To genuinely listen to them without judgement. Ensuring that they know I am on their team and want to help them achieve their goals. My primary goal is for the clients I work with to feel as comfortable and rewarded as possible through this process.

Going to therapy implies the courage to question ourselves and face the challenges that get in the way of self-acceptance. Our lives change and we often struggle to change with it. I believe therapy can be a transformative encounter that allows a different experience of ourselves. As a native Spanish-English speaker, I provide a culturally sensitive approach to therapy and am mindful of race, gender, sexuality, and class intersections. My background and my current role as a clinician at Harvard University Counseling and Mental Health Services have allowed me to work with patients from all over the world.

I love helping clients who feel stuck with anxiety, depression, or trauma become “unstuck.” In my therapy space, I strive to create a supportive environment for people to explore their emotions – and the experiences that shaped those emotions. With individuals, couples, and families, I work collaboratively to understand how previous dynamics, especially with families of origin, contribute to their current thoughts and coping skills. When clients understand how their past relationships influence their current selves, they are better able to build new futures, with greater self-acceptance, growth, new skills, and overall happiness.

Infidelity Therapists

How does therapy for infidelity work?

A skilled infidelity therapist will provide a safe space for clients to communicate their feelings and concerns. The goal is to be completely honest about what led to the cheating and how it has affected the entire family to prevent it from recurring in the future. The therapist will help the clients work on rebuilding mutual trust and respect and developing better communication and conflict-resolution skills. If the goal is to remain a couple, clients will learn the “danger signs” for their specific relationship, and they will make a renewed commitment to be faithful.

How long does therapy for infidelity take?

Recovery from infidelity can take time, and it can vary from person to person. Generally, a therapist will want to see the clients at least once a week for around six months. Then the sessions can be arranged as needed, depending on the clients’ individual needs. While therapy may end or shift to an as-needed basis, it can take up to two years or more for some clients to fully recover from infidelity.

How does therapy help the partner who was cheated on?

When a client discovers their partner’s infidelity, their trust in the relationship and in the life they had together may be shattered. They often experience mental health symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, grief, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). They don’t always want to stay in the relationship; they may feel ambivalent or may even want to leave. Therapy gives these clients a safe and healthy way to communicate all of their complicated emotions and concerns.

How does therapy help the partner who committed infidelity?

Infidelity often occurs when one or both partners’ emotional needs are not being met in the relationship. Therapy can help this client understand why they cheated and figure out how to address those unmet needs without resorting to infidelity in the future. This can lessen (but not entirely eliminate) the risk of repeated infidelity. Clients who cheat may also feel intense guilt about deceiving their partners, a sentiment that they can work through in therapy.
