It is stressful to sit down with a stranger and work on solving your biggest problems, but a relaxed and non-hurried atmosphere helps. I'm a warm, engaging and compassionate therapist. I absolutely love my work, as I've been privileged to support so many people in their efforts to feel good again. I believe strongly in the resiliency of the human spirit; however, it is important that my clients take away real tools to manage life's stressors. I'm trained in the Brainspotting treatment method, a powerful and efficient therapy that helps improve symptoms of trauma and/or other neurophysiological challenges.

As an intern, I am learning who my ideal client might be, so I am open to meeting people across the board. Some of my particular areas of expertise and interest are with teenagers (especially those in the LGBTQ+ community) and those whose jobs in public service might make work/life balance difficult (such as educators or librarians). I'm interested in working on issues of anxiety, grief, life/career transitions, new parenthood, body acceptance, and more. I see my work as helping you become the best you can while understanding and navigating what might be keeping you challenged through a feminist, socially just, and systemic lens.

Reaching out for help in our most vulnerable moments can be overwhelming and scary. Sometimes our self talk convinces us that we should figure it out on our own, or that our problems aren’t as bad as they could be - and we find ourselves hesitant to make that next step. I will meet your bravery and vulnerability with compassion, curiosity, feeling, and a bit of humor. I want to center what matters to you, develop skills and abilities, and help you rediscover a fullness in being alive and in your body. My areas of experience include working with individuals of the LBGTQ+, and navigating barriers to receiving gender affirming care.

Kristin Camorlinga, LCPC, received her Masters in Counseling from Loyola University in 2012. She specializes in working with children, adolescents and their families and has been doing so in different capacities since 1995. She has counseled bilingually in many settings including three schools, a domestic abuse shelter, two non-for-profits and two community public health agencies. She is passionate about helping people overcome mental health difficulties so they can reach their greatest potential and live their best life.

If I asked you to list 5-10 ways to decrease anxiety, improve your relationships, or reach your goals, I bet you could think of at least a few examples fairly quickly. Maybe, you've already tried those strategies yourself. Thankfully, Mental Health strategies and theories are not in short supply. However, just because you might know what you're "supposed to do" to feel better, change your thought patterns, or improve your family dynamics doesn't mean it's easy to actually do it. Education and Training: Mrs. Simona Stanila received her Bachelor's Degree in Education, Literature and Languages from the University of Bucharest, Romania and her Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology (MACL) from Argosy University, Schaumburg, Illinois. She is currently working towards her Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology (Psy. D. ) at Argosy University, Chicago, Illinois. During her Practicum for her Master's Degree, Mrs. Simona Stanila worked at the Streamwood Behavioral Health Center in Illinois as a part of the Advanced Crisis Therapy (ACT) unit.
